Lightbox is currently TV only I believe? Netflix also has a ton of great movies, that itself stops me from considering changing to Lightbox. Personally I think using a VPN is still worthwhile regardless of global mode, as Netflix UK also has a lot of great british content (such as BBC documentaries) that isn't on the US Netflix.

semigeek: If you ever decide to use something other than Slingshot, Unblock-US has just added 6 more regions to its service for Netflix -
Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

Different countries have different movies, and a lot are in English (i.e. not translated to another language)  Unblock-US now supports 19 Netflix regions

I was always a little skeptical of the Unblock services that are online silly really as i completely accept slingshot.

Ok so I am guessing I have to setup a US account checked on the net there are some very old instructions

as Netflix is a free app do i need to have the ability of adding credit to the account?

no other devices folks ! I will not worry about my little Xperia!

You shouldn't need to have a credit card associated with your US iTunes account, so should be safe to follow the instructions detailing how to create an account without credit card details (which hinge around purchasing a free app).

If you're used to is itunes though having a us itunes acct with a credit card in it means only apple has your ccd, not Apple plus Netflix - as Netflix can be paid via itunes - so can Hulu.

Personally I prefer this as means I only hold it one place. I'm also using a one smart virtual card.

This will tell you how to create a US iTunes account:
http://help.unotelly.com/support/solutions/articles/59837-how-to-register-a-free-itunes-account-without-a-credit

I googled "houses for sale in Portland, Oregon" to get a valid US address, but you can also just make one up.

You don't need any credit on your US iTunes account to download free apps.

Once you've downloaded Netflix, sign out of your US iTunes account and then sign back in with your NZ account.

Unless I missed something on that site, I'd class that as a "how to attempt to do an information site....and fail".

It tells you to get a Unblock.us account (probably via a referral code so the website owner gets some kickback) and thats it really....   if they had more info as to how to setup Netflix on devices etc it would be more useful.

I dunno about the set up info on that site, but there are a bunch of subsites from there that list teh new content on each region on netflix.  Very worth getting their email.
