I'm also seriously considering ditching it after the CWC. I only subbed to Sky Sport to watch the cricket, and of the other channels, my son watches NickJr and I watch Living Channel, sometimes The Zone, and that's about it. I use the MySky recorder often, but most of what I record is on the Freeview channels. I can watch my favourite Living Channel shows using the 4oD app from the UK which I AirPlay to my TV, but the quality is bad and it's riddled with advertising. Any suggestions for a good streaming Living Channel replacement?

MarkCerny: The only reason I am hesitant to pull sky is because of the sports. I watch the Phoenix the in A League. I wish SKY NZ would pull their thumb out and offer this like the UK:

http://www.nowtv.com/

I have that up and running now via my apple TV, watch it all the time. Quality TV.

Do you have to pay with a UK credit card? And is it like watching NZ Sky Sports HD ?

Thanks!

Nope, just use Kiwibank mastercard. I don't get the sports package only entertainment package, so can't comment.

Is it HD and any issues streaming it?

My friend has the sports channel, he said not HD but decent picture. We both used a Kiwibank mastercard to set it up.

So the nowtv sports package is 10.99 GBP per week.

I was hoping it would be a better offering than PLP, but the sports package costs more than my sky sub with sports, My sky & the hd ticket. (and a lot more than PLP)
The entertainment pack @ 6.99 gbp / month is pretty good value.

Does anyone use the actual now tv box I saw on the site?

I bought the Sky now box, its barebones Roku and IMO, bad for streaming to NZ (lots of buffering and poor pic quality using VDSL and UNotelly)  No ethernet. I set my apple TV to Uk and use the NOW app, very impressed no buffering and really good pic.. The thing I miss with the now box vs ATV is all the other UK apps sitting alongside the Now TV app.

I will probably ditch it as soon as the new season of Game of Thrones ends. Other than SoHo and the movies channels, the other channels (which I concede do have some interesting content) have been ruined and rendered unwatchable by incessant ads/promos.

US Newflix & Lightbox are looking like better options now.

billgates: I have DishWorld which shows most of cricket matches and all football matches for $10/month along with other sports events. They did not get the rights for cricket world cup this year due to StarSports in India, Australia'a channel 9 and ESPN US getting the exclusive rights. StarSports has a NZ$2.50 package in HD for all 53 ODI world cup matches available to stream live in an web browser. Been using it since match 1 and works great.

Where do you find that ? Haven't been able to locate it on starsports.com, it just says "no packages available" like it's using geo-ip to block. Perhaps you're using a VPN ?
