Dingbatt: So how about this glitch?
I use my Samsung Note 8 and in general lightbox works well. However for one particular TV series (Warehouse 13) the following occurs.
Season 1-4 episodes play flawlessly on both tablet and Chromecast. Season 5 episodes play perfectly on the tablet but as soon as I try and view them on Chromecast the lightbox app crashes on the tablet. I have tried casting during playback and before commencing playback but the result is the same.
IPad lightbox app casts the exact same episodes with no problem.

Hmm, that is weird.

I'll try and replicate here. Leave it with me and I'll do some digging.

huckster: So what's happened to the Android app? Can't load any series now. Black screen with little circle going round and round.

What's changed?

1. Start Lightbox.
2. Click on a series e.g. Shaun the Sheep.
3. Screen is black except for Shaun the Sheep at the top and little circle in middle going round and round.
4. Go get cup of tea.
5. Watch little circle go round and round.
6. Repeat 4 & 5.

It's a bug we're trying to fix - it only occurs when you have a show that has been removed from Lightbox in your Recently Watched list.

There is a temporary work-around - log in to Lightbox on another non-Android device and click play on 10 other shows (can playback for 5 secs per show) in order to 'purge' your Recently Watched list. This will remove the offending show, and you should be able to use the app again.

We're hoping to have a proper fix released ASAP.

Ok. Here's another one which I haven't seen posted but then again I haven't trawled extensively so it may well have been.

Select any TV category using your Android App e.g. Comedy. Scroll. Things start reappearing making the list bigger than it actually is.

I'm not seeing that on any of our devices.

Just to eliminate one possibility, are you seeing shows from the 'Popular' carousel at the top appearing in the alpha-sorted list?

Just lost all my edits. Carousel is fine. It's the "All" part. It pauses if you scroll down fairly quickly. Then adds in the rest and duplicates from where it paused at the end.

I saw in the other thread a few people having issues with messages popping up when lightbox isn't even running, has that been looked into?

For example, phone recently restarted or turned off then on. Later in the day i'll receive a phone call, and at the same time a message will pop up saying "lightbox has stopped" and ask if I want to report the issue. To be honest, happens with nearly all of my phone calls, despite not having used lightbox for days or weeks.

Also, when connecting via chromecast, I continuously get a message popping up at the bottom of the screen saying "connection to device has been lost" alternating with "connection to device has been recovered". These messages continue to cycle even after closing the app, and I have to restart my phone to get them to go away. Despite that, the stream on the TV runs flawlessly.

(I don't believe it's device related, but for interests sake, I'm running the app on a Samsung Note 4)

RE the crash messages: that should have been fixed in the latest update (1.0.60) - have you updated, and still experienced this issue?

We're planning to address the 'connection to device has been lost' messages in the next release, due to drop in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the info, just checked and I have 1.0.60, may not have noticed that the error message has stopped... I don't get too many phone calls ;) Will keep an eye out and let you know. Looking forward to the connection message being fixed, very annoying!

I tend to focus on the platforms I manage - which are Android / iOS / Panasonic TV.

I've replied to that thread - as I mentioned there, our Product Manager who manages the web platform has been out of action recently - so the thread went cold.

Nothing at this stage - but we are always reviewing our device coverage alongside popularity/usage of devices.

I have been having a particularly good run with Lightbox on Android/Chromecast of late with no obvious issues other than lock screen controls not working

I have to say though, i would love the option of auto playing the next episode of a series, I have a 2yo that loves Spongebob, trouble is each program is like ten minutes long so involves lots of intervention on my behalf :P

I hear you - and it's something that is on our to do list. We haven't kicked it off yet, but it is part of a broader piece of work to improve the playback experience.
