Hey, just creating a logical home for any defects/issues on the Android platform.

I continually get ERROR "Cannot play video" on my asus TF700T tablet thats rooted with KitKat 4.4.4 Cyanogenmod10

Im pretty sure it used to work with a sideload version of lightbox, which i removed completely, and installed the latest version from the app store.

Other streaming sites work fine on it.

We don't support rooted devices. Developing and supporting protected video for the myriad of device/OS options on the Android platform is a huge challenge, and accounting for modifications to the OS is a bridge too far.

I get your frustrations though - it is annoying when your specific device isn't supported.

and your website says that where? why is it able to be downloaded if its not going to work on a rooted device?

As far as I'm aware, there's no way to exclude rooted devices from being able to download an app via Google Play. If there is a way, I'd be interested to know.

It's generally accepted that you root your device at your own risk - and we wouldn't state outright that it won't run on rooted devices, because it may work for some and not others. There's simply a greater chance that modifications to the OS will impact a devices' ability to play protected video.

why not state you dont support rooted devices then?

I have a custom rom'd & rooted Samsung S3 which plays LB perfectly (other than the general app flaws as being discussed)

One issue i have encountered only a couple of times is the app mid stream just closing down completely. I have checked recently updated apps as i know this can cause said issue sometimes but not the cause in these cases

Not an App issue per say but something i am finding particularly annoying is once you start playing a program and if you stop playing that program before it finishes, next time you go to play it tries to lay next episode rather than reverting back part played episode

Maybe try installing xposed framework and running the RootCloak module?

Bugger. I'm having the error message on my TF101 but that's running Android 5.1.1 so I don't have RootCloak on it. My Galaxy Note II (stock firmware, rooted) has xposed/RootCloak and works fine. If you have something like RomToolbox try clearing the cache and data then run Fix Permissions - long-shot but you never know.

So how about this glitch?
I use my Samsung Note 8 and in general lightbox works well. However for one particular TV series (Warehouse 13) the following occurs.
Season 1-4 episodes play flawlessly on both tablet and Chromecast. Season 5 episodes play perfectly on the tablet but as soon as I try and view them on Chromecast the lightbox app crashes on the tablet. I have tried casting during playback and before commencing playback but the result is the same.
IPad lightbox app casts the exact same episodes with no problem.

So what's happened to the Android app? Can't load any series now. Black screen with little circle going round and round.

What's changed?

1. Start Lightbox.
2. Click on a series e.g. Shaun the Sheep.
3. Screen is black except for Shaun the Sheep at the top and little circle in middle going round and round.
4. Go get cup of tea.
5. Watch little circle go round and round.
6. Repeat 4 & 5.

Might need more info for them on that. I've got no issue like the one you mention on .60

It's a bug we're trying to fix - it only occurs when you have a show that has been removed from Lightbox in your Recently Watched list.

There is a temporary work-around - log in to Lightbox on another non-Android device and click play on 10 other shows (can playback for 5 secs per show) in order to 'purge' your Recently Watched list. This will remove the offending show, and you should be able to use the app again.

We're hoping to have a proper fix released ASAP.
