so I'm on an HTPC using oscam/acamd for LOCAL decryption only (for in-house). I've been on a NZ4500 blue card for years and I've kindly refused Sky's generous offer of a "free" new decoder.
Does this mean that eventually the NZ4500 cards will be blacklisted/decativated? Are the problems only using Oscam on a dreambox or are they wider (eg. Oscam/dvblink/acamd?

It sounds like they have simply implemented a reduction in the allowed number of ECM requests within a short time period (or increased the latency of the ECM requests).

It sounds like a replay of what went on with FoxTel in AU - except in foxTel case Oscam was no longer able to read the cards.

All this would do is to encourage me to swiftly terminate my Sky subscription - as the service is going downhill anyway - most of our viewing comes form other streaming services these days - so it's a waste of money.

You have to take the new decoder at some point - because the old one and your card will eventually be worthless.

You have to take the new decoder at some point - because the old one and your card will eventually be worthless.

I only had my orignal decoder plugged in for less than 30 minutes about 4 years ago - it was a Plastic coated turd - I think the rats have probably eaten the thing in my shed by now.

Sticking with the orignal decoder has enabled me to have the HD ticket without the Sky penalty.

The day the NZ4500 card becomes unreadable via oscam/acamd for my family is the day I terminate my sky subscription (and I have been very close since I'm running 2 Nvidia shield TVs now as front ends).

$77.51 for basic + sports and what now looks like a set of counter measures to stop people using HTPCs is the end of the line.

So it appears they may be going down the same route as Sky UK and using paired cards with the decoder; does the new card work with SD channels or are they all not working?

Unless your card supports DVB-S2 you'd need to buy a new card anyway once they move to 100% DVB-S2 transmission (which is the reason for the ST swap).

Relax, no one said anything about pairing, sky has been able to "pair" a card to a device for years however they don't.

The existing nz4500 cards support dvbs2 kotherwise I wouldn't get the hd channels).
So the only problem comes when sky either decide to pair the new cards to the new decoders or deactivate the old cards.
Either way, I. In no rush to get one of the latest cards ;-) their card replacement must be in terms of months which will give me ample time to junk sky and switch to freeview plus streaming services. Just need a quad dvbt instead of a quad dvbs now..

Has anyone else experienced these lil glitches on non-skybox setups? Just got dreambox back out for another look, no change :/
