Just forced my update to Software: 11.33.00.R.R.99 & EPG: SNZ.77.0.1.14 and it's now lightning fast, so seems they have fixed the speed problems!

Tried the previous way to update, nothing happens.
Care to point what the steps are to force update?

The Soft Reboot didn't seem to work anymore, so I did hard reset with the red button under the front flap.  Then the normal Power, Up, Down, Power buttons when the circle flashes blue the second time.  Started upgrading straight away.  Only took 5 mins this time.

But as said above, if I need to do this again, I think I'll use the installer menu.

Jiriteach must have a different google from mine as I am damned if I can find how to force the latest update.

The button fiddle was published so why not the installer menu trick?

Press setup, then go down till it shows settings. Now press the installer code 0759, followed by select. This should get you in to installer menu. From here, press up or down until you get to the software update option.
Upgrading mine right now....

It's updating now, I used the reset button.
Need to press and hold for a few seconds.

Updated now, played for a bit. It is more responsive, not whole lot, certainly not like what it used to.

Feels like as-if they disable the "debug" or logging/diagnostic flag somewhat (programmer's reference)

Thanks, guyl, for the info.

All done. Yep, much more responsive.

Forced an update too (thanks for the instructions) and I actually think mine is going slower than it was before...

It's certainly no better...

I haven't found the new software unbearably slow (don't think I have this latest update yet). It is slow, but not so slow that I don't want to use it.

What I do find annoying, and will be one of the reasons I give to Sky this week when I call to cancel is the UI is unreadable for me from the couch.

Also, in the planner, the 'Disk Space Used' bar used to show a place mark of where your show was recorded, so if you didn't know which page of the planner you were on, the bar would give you some idea (far left = start of planner, far right = last show recorded). I used to find that very handy.

I like it better then before update. Just wish the downloads were higher quality picture.

I used search on the guide, it seems to find programs days ahead, is instant and searches all channels.

With series stacking there's less entries in planner to search through, and can put in aphapetical if want idea where something is.

Can record three programs at once, before it was two that's an improvement.

If someone was watching PPV on demand (I've only watched about 3 in 10 years) can press record when it's highlighted and transfers to planner. Then have more then a week to watch it. I tested this, didn't get charged as I never played it, so looks like only get charged if try and play from planner. If they made PPV $3 or $4 I may be more inclined to buy them, but I don't know the economics of the pricing.

Have forced second update, writing looks clearer to me then before, and seems way more responsive then before.

Caurious to know what ratings (on or off) in installers menu does. Would it give you the ratings, or if on would it send to sky what you're watching so they can get their own ratings. It's off by default.
