For those that have already got the new MY SKY, it looks like an update is available.

The rollout version was:
Software: 11.25.00.R.R.98
EPG: SNZ.77.0.1.8

The update version available now:
Software: 11.33.00.R.R.99
EPG: SNZ.77.0.1.14

The whole interface feels faster but that could just be me excited that SKY could have fixed some of the teething problems :)

Not sure when it's being pushed out but forceful push gets the latest.

exciting to hear!

I had my first experience with this new interface after hearing so many complaints from family members i had avoided it. Just isnt worth the frustration!

Funny story to go with the frustration though i suppose..

Due to some dodgyness with our TV and its wireless card not being about to handle high bitrate files (not to mention the fact it would bridge wireless and lan...), cables were constantly being plugged in and out. While sticking a new switch in the entertainment centre and setting everything up, i knocked the power out of the sky machine.

Honestly, it was that slow that i thought i broke the damnd thing! even just turning in on! after rebooting it about 10 times and realizing it just takes an insane amount of time to boot i left it for a bit. Cable back with a family member there, went to check it was all connected up nicely i was stunned at actually how slow it was! to the point that i was standing there going no, im sure these battery's are dead its not doing a thing!

Actually had a family member ask me to fix the internet because it was slowing the sky machine down, i just looked at them dumbfounded and went its not even plugged in right at this moment. its not internet related at all. They bought their tablet to me half an hour later showing me one of the many articles covering peoples frustrations with the Responsiveness!

I do have to question how such a Slow UI made it through Q&A, its practically dysfunctional IMO.

I would go down and check if the update is pushed out to it already, but... ill wait till someone else is using it and get them to check instead!

I havent checked the version yet, will wait till the tennis is finished.

EWWWW!!

Just tried rewinding live broadcast and it went straight back to about an hour ago instead of rewinding from now. Very annoying.

Maybe its little puter is old and slow, the boxes are circa 2007 design.

I've got the update version.

It's slow. I don't know how slow the first version was but this is a lot slower than the old original menu.

I also find the text hard to read when its highlighted in blue.

Wow this "upgrade" is a mess.  The usability people have not done their job at all.  The comparison to the old version leaves it wanting.

First the most obvious thing: Speed.  The old box was slow compared to say most Freeview boxes, this version is painfully slow so that skipping backwards and forwards between two sports events is far too slow.

Second in the most annoying stakes: Usability in the record function.  In the old version, when you got near the end of playback of a recorded programme, hitting the Planner button took you back to the list with the programme you were watching, highlighted.  You could then delete the programme without needing to scroll through the whole list to find it.

Third:  In the old system you could shuttle between channels and playback just by hitting the channel select button which would bring back whatever the last channel you were viewing and then to return to your recorded programme, simply hit the play button and you are back to where you left off.

In this new iteration, jumping out of recorded programme to channel means that when you want to return to the playback, you have to go through the whole >planner> search > select> play  routine, and given how slow the new system is, it is a royal PITA.

Badly done Sky, a giant Fail on the usability front and I won't even get into the visual design.

How slow are your channel changes? >3 seconds?

I haven't noticed too much of a problem and I was skipping sevens & cricket quite a bit yesterday.

Do you have MySky, or MySkdHDi?

I've always just pressed the back button which takes you back to the planer with the show highlighted, and does this now on the new system.

Just forced my update to Software: 11.33.00.R.R.99 & EPG: SNZ.77.0.1.14 and it's now lightning fast, so seems they have fixed the speed problems!

I'm not so sure I'm in the same camp.  I too have forced the upgrade - and while speed is not noticeably faster I do note that the MySky with very little recorded content is much much faster than the one with lots of content.

Tried the previous way to update, nothing happens.
Care to point what the steps are to force update?

Thanks for that tip, that works.  Speed could have been caused by lack of internet connection. I changed my router to DHCP and forced update and that seems to have sorted the speed issue. Its gone from around 4 secs to under 2 which is acceptable

Its even easier to force an update now as well. No need to physically fiddle with buttons. Just head into the installer menu and you can select update software. If you Google hard enough, you will find how to enter the installer menu.
