Interesting question re the smart card from the old Sky account. As far as I know the old mySkyHDI and card are still in a cupboard somewhere. Cancelled the account (was through Vodafone) and nobody said anything about taking back the decoder and card.

Maybe they only sort this out as part of the receipting process for the old card?

One thing that sprung to mind, Did you sign up with sky and cancel early? Did you get a Sky Go promotion when you joined? Maybe they loaded in a manual deal and forgot to remove it. E.g free sports on Go but not on Satellite.

No - was a many years old account with no promotions but... ran it through Vodafone and cancelled Vodafone which caused Sky to be cancelled. That could explain how it fell through the cracks.

As an ex Vodafone employee I saw this a few times, VF cancelled then no one would be in touch to discuss Sky. Sky customers were handed directly back to Sky to have the conversation regarding the decoder and sky services. I assume this has not taken place? Given Sky charge $600+ for those HDI boxes they generally try to recover them, id drop it off at your local place that takes them back and claim ignorance from there.

But yes, Something is amiss in this case. I wouldn't be leaving this to chance.

At no stage do you own the decoder. John you should return it before they send you a bill for $600

Mine stopped when I cancelled. OP isn't using a mates login and forget he still is? When I cancelled, I could not log in to My Account, which is expected, its the same login.

Having said that, I have Sky back. And I still get Fanpass emails, although I am sure I cannot use Fanpass as I have Sky.

Fanpass and sky are 2 different systems so yes you can have sky and fanpass but you will be paying sky and fanpass.

Fanpass is from people that want to watch sports but don't want all the other "stuff" that sky has.

I am 99% sure that if you have Sky you are ineligible for FP. Unless you setup FP under a completely different account. Although the below doesn't mean if you have Sky without Sport that its not eligible. Surely they would block that?

If I am a SKY SPORT subscriber do I get access to the Fan Pass app?

No you will not have access to the Fan Pass app

No you will not have access to the Fan Pass app

The 2 systems are different billing systems.  So if you have sky sports then you access that on skygo.  If you want to use fanpass then you need to pay to use fanpass (i don't know why you would if you have sky sports).

If you have sky but not sports then you can still use fanpass as long as you pay the cost of fanpass.  You can even use the same email address as your skygo if you signup to fanpass with the same address.

So in short, sky, neon, fanpass are all different billing systems.  All have their own monthly charge.  All 3 can have the same email address as each system is treated as it's own system.

Can you only access the free to air channels though?

I'm on decoder rental only, just tested,  Prime catchup works, but the channels I don't have access to it comes up you must be a sky subscriber to access skygo.

If you are on decoder rental only, you do get a selection of other Sky channels ( no premium) that rotate on a monthly basis. This month we have the glorious Fox news and Vibe
