I'd be surprised if they don't charge you exorbitant "non-subscriber casual rates" buried deep in the fine print...   tongue-out

Dont be surprised when you go to buy a house that your declined due to old bad debt! Or if Baycorp come knocking! Lets just hope your sky account name doesnt kickback to your GZ handle so they dont disable it ;)

But yeah, PM me the username and PW so i can confirm it is working :P

That's the issue with stuff these days, people tend to use the same keywords between accounts etc.

I cancelled my Sky account about a year ago and my SkyGo still works... but... maybe best to keep it quiet in case Sky realises they've stuffed up and they start shutting down cancelled SkyGo accounts.

Pfft. What a load of nonsense. What bad debt? I don't owe them anything. People here are jumping to some pretty wild conclusions.

I believe Tim was simply referring to the fact that Sky might still have your account open and there is still something being charged. So don't be surprised if one day you get a grumpy letter from somebody.

Generally these systems are automated so that when accounts are closed everything is gone, so for it to still work is a bit weird. The other token is perhaps Sky are just useless and don't have it all automatically linked - also highly possible.

The conclusions may look pretty wild from here but if their system is bad enough to let cancelled accounts continue to access a service, their systems can be bad enough to charge cancelled accounts for accessing a service.

One never knows until we know.

A work colleague cancelled his sky account several months ago, but apparently the sky go remained working for quite a while - he was able to watch the entire Lions tour, but it would no longer work last weekend to watch the rugby that was on. Enjoy it while it lasts :)

Hardly. I only found out by mistake when I entered the old skygo account login instead of the current one...

There's nothing in their terms of use that suggests they can claw back anything from closed accounts either.

Occam's Razor says the latter applies.

Double down on that given how poorly designed the whole skygo system seems.

Hey John,

Was more of a poke at the recent bad debts that have re surfaced with a certain service provider referring their customers to a debt collector. At the same time its also reinforcing the fact that we should be vigilant with our services and what we are receiving and if we are receiving something like this in error it should be dealt with to prevent these issue.

Even when things are referred in error, it can still affect you negatively for a very long time as we all read fellow users horror stories in that thread. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.

Im not going to divulge into principal but you can work that out for yourself :)

Cheers

Can you only access the free to air channels though?

I'm on decoder rental only, just tested,  Prime catchup works, but the channels I don't have access to it comes up you must be a sky subscriber to access skygo.

If in the case the OP can, i'd be very interested in what the smart card would receive. I would assume there is a link between the users satellite subscriptions to populate the relevant sky go subscriptions (If not it would explain the left open Go service). So in the case the smart card is still alive and in your posession you might be able to get a decoder going.

Pretty sure this goes into the theft/fraud category as is stealing power/water. Probably against FUG to be discussing but hey.

One thing that sprung to mind, Did you sign up with sky and cancel early? Did you get a Sky Go promotion when you joined? Maybe they loaded in a manual deal and forgot to remove it. E.g free sports on Go but not on Satellite.
