MikeAqua:

I thought I would start a thread about features people would like to see in Lightbox.

It would be great if Lightbox could develop the Skip Recap and Skip Intro features available in Netflix.

They are handy features to have when binge watching a series.

FF'ing credits with a tiny slider on a smart phone touch screen is far from effective.

that likely depends on the rights they have with respect to the content they have purchased. may not be possible

How about a permanent poll on the LB website asking a similar question? Might get more feedback than a thread on Geekzone.

In the absence of such a poll, my votes are (in order):
1. DD/DTS 5.1 sound
2. Subtitles
3. Android TV player (official support)
4. Linear channels (e.g. kids shows)

Dolby Digital 5.1 sound would be nice.

Lightbox say that although 5.1 isn't an official feature, some content will have 5.1 audio. However, their FB support weren't able to list any TV series with 5.1 content.

NZ companies just don’t seem to get it.
Not one that I know of does 5.1 for streaming.
If Neon did it I’d subscribe to it.

Watching Americans on light box at moment, DD wouldn’t add much to that one, but for action ones it would.

Netflix does Dolby Digital 5.1 and DD+ 5.1.

Reposted from another LB topic

1 - Using your desktop browser when you mouse over a movie it indicates the rental price. But using your iDevice (iOS) you have to wait till you receive the download/watch email till you know the price. How about when you tap on the movie and it brings up the detail window you indicate the rental price there.

2 - With this iOS iPad 2 iDevice update the slider now works whilst watching the show but it would be nice to have a thumbnail view on the slider like Netflix app

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I don't know if it's possible (may be licencing restrictions) but the ability to download content (perhaps it has an "expiry date" of 10, 14 days) to watch later. So I can go on holiday and watch an episode/series without having to use mobile data.

They’ve done that for an extra $3 a month. Don’t know how long until downloads expire.

Get rid of the on screen graphics  over the end credits saying the next episode starts in 10 seconds.  You surely don't have to copy everything that Netflix does.

Not exactly a feature, more of a business case.
Offer the premium package as an incentive to Spark customers. The "upgrade to this plan and get Lightbox/Spotify/Netflix on us" falls on deaf ears because I am already receiving it from another part of the package.
Now if Lightbox could offer 4K/Dolby Atmos content, that would be worth paying for.......

They haven’t copied Netflix completely. With Netflix you can turn Autoplay off.
Settings in web browser.
Then you’ve just the pesky previews that try to cut the end credits off after that with Netflix, though that might be after last program in series or after a movie.

Not a lightbox user  but reading this thread, it doesn't sound like it has a lot going for it... No subtitles? No 5.1? No Android TV app?

Wow! that's very poor.

I think for now that Lightbox is a place holder for Spark

Could you do away with the profiles selection if you only want 1 profile. Not everybody, wants a profile for father, mother, kids etc.

It's an extra button press on the remote and for us, a complete waste of time.
