So I am in Hamilton for the weekend supposed to be out shopping on Sunday when the Crusaders are (hopefully) beating the Blues.  Has anyone tried casting from the new app? Does anyone know what the quality is like?

 

Anyone know how soon after a match finishes the app will have the game available for replay?

 

 

Not sure about the replay availability times, but there is a replay immediately after the game finishes at 6pm.

 

You can also rewind the "LIVE" stream by 2 hours. - I get my wife to do it for me so nothing is spoiled.

 

I also have found the quality very good. And casting has been decent on my Oppo FindX2 to Sony Bravia, as well as my MIBOX4

What was very frustrating, was the game was played at 3:30pm. Due to circumstances, we ended up back at our room at 8:30pm and no sign of anything except highlights on the app, yet the replay was showing as starting at 9pm. In the end we watched the replay 'live' as I didn't trust the app. 

 

I assume it's not normal that 3 hours after a game finishes, it's not on the app?

 

I am wondering who at Sky to contact, because, if that's normal, it all but makes the app useless for what I would use it for. 

 

Also, the search is badly broken.  Searching for Cru, or Crusaders doesn't return a single result. 

 

How can apps be this poor in 2021?

IvanPiacun: Doesn't appear to want to cast to a chromecast connected to a Panasonic 4K TV. Says ready to cast on the TV screen but just shows a white circle on a blue screen on the Sky Go - Companion App on an Android Phone. Netflix casts successfully.


What version Chromecast do you have? The app doesn't see our Chromecast V2. App help say only Chromecast V 3 & Ultra supported.

I didn’t think there was any way of accessing on demand. This is where sky sport now is better IMO. Been trying to catch up with the sail gp. In the end it was on YouTube soon after broadcast (I thought it was supposed to be after 24 hours). But thems the brakes, and I was able to watch it on my own schedule. Sky seemed to think repeating it at 7am in entirety is enough for anyone and. Then only plays 30min highlights to cover 90mins coverage .

This is because the guide doesn’t actually list the team names in the program for some bizarre reason

I'm confused, I thought that was the entire purpose of this app? Or at least one of the primary? I can replay prior games? Just seems to be a long lag to be able to get this done?

No I think the purpose of this app is the bare minimum sky have to provide to allow their subscribers to see what’s on currently while not at home. And set your mysky to record.

If you want the full live to on demand experience (like spark sport) - I think that’s what you get when sky sport now. It’s been a while since I used it.

The SKY GO app doesn’t show the teams’ names in the Guide, but the SKY TV GUIDE app does. 🤷‍♂️

Bung: What version Chromecast do you have? The app doesn't see our Chromecast V2. App help say only Chromecast V 3 & Ultra supported.


I have a Chromecast version 2 which works fine with NZ Sky Go Companion App on a Sony Bravia TV so I have now replaced it with a Chromecast Ultra on the Panasonic 4K TV connected via ethernet, and relegated the chromecast 2 with firmware version 1.49.23069 to a Sony Bravia TV.

I couldn't see any help in the App which says it is limited to Chromecast version 3 and Ultra only, and I have also had it working successfully with casting to a generation 3 and even a generation 4 i.e. Chromecast Google TV. The help screen was blank for me in fact until just a few minutes ago and I see the comments now but I don't believe they are correct.

I did find that it was sensitive to being on the same Wi-fi SID as the phone for the gen 2 version.

Thanks Ivan I've found that the chromecast had dropped off wifi. The casting symbols in other apps were coming from the LG tv. When I couldn't connect with Sky Go I made the mistake of reading their statement that only latest version Chromecasts were supported and not looking further. More likely they have 4k tvs in mind.

So, I had a conversation with the Skygo people at Sky yesterday. 

 

Games played over a weekend, may get a highlights or mini within a few hours, but the full game will not be posted during weekends as the online team only works Monday to Friday. This is wildly disappointing given the majority of sport I watch (and from what I can see, most sports 'big' games are played during the weekend, why don't they split the teams so that they can post faster (within an hour or max 2) during peak times. There is pretty much no point in posting a game 2-3 *days* after it's played, the chances of avoiding the result for that length of time is next to non existent.  I did provide some strong feedback to them about this. Also, the search, they acknowledged they had already had feedback, but took details and promised they would look into it. 

 

 

 

Any Sky reps here any more?

Yes looks like all casting ability has been removed, but now the guide actually has team names in it! One step forward two back, good old sky.
