Don't hold your breath, their Apple TV app was horrendous for probably 12-18months and when I queried them, they said something like 'we're working on it, there's no ETA, we're just a small NZ based development team'

Was the Apple TV app having the same issues as discussed here, with the several second delay?

Honestly, I'm surprised Apple doesn't vet these apps more.

lawilson97: If more of us ask about the issue, do you think they would prioritise it?

They got hammered for the poor Apple TV app for almost that entire 12-18month period and it didn't seem to move the dial.

I don't accept the "we're a small NZ based team", it's not like they're doing us a favour for gods sake, we pay a (ever increasing) amount to have the service , $18 a last count

It's another streaming service (along with Sky Sport Now) that SKY NZ own and pay passing interest in improving, as they focus on set up boxes.

Fixed the problem just in case anyone else encounters this.  I deleted all app data and that seems to have resolved it.

Same story of a laggy Neon app on our Android TV MiBox.  Has the lag returned since you deleted the app data?

It's slowing down but not to the point yet where I have had to try deleting again.

Tell them to give you a credit since you cant use it and see if that helps get them into gear with fixing it.

Or cancel your account and tell them you cancelled as the Android app is so poor.

No, basically the remote was almost unusable, you couldn't control anything on the screen...

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

That's insane. TVNZ+ and Three Now have absurdly better apps than Neon in terms of performance - I seriously can't understand their 'small team' excuse.

Up until I stumbled across this thread I thought it was just us with a sluggish Neon app.  Click down arrow... wait..., click down arrow... wait... click up arrow because you overshoot the target...  You're right, by comparison TVNZ+ (and ThreeNow with minimal use) are far superior for performance.

Sky seem to do their own thing with their products. For some reason Sky Sport Now on Apple TV uses a forward and rewind duration of 30 secs which I think is the only app I've seen with that duration, everything else is 10secs.

30 secs is far too long when you want to go back a ball in cricket or a phase of play in rugby/football etc.

No idea who comes up with this stuff, but their Neon Apple TV app is now perfectly usable, just took them sometime to get there.

No issue son Samsung YTV - other than that it logs me out sporadically.  Perhaps this is every time the app updates.  Netflix never does that.

This is an issue on Android TV devices, specifically the Chromecast with Google TV in my case.

Good to know other folks are having the same issue. I've got a Sony TV running Android and the app has been super laggy for a month or so now. Other apps and the OS itself are snappy so it's definitely an issue with Neon. I've tried clearing the Neon app's cache and also reinstalling; both helped a little to start with, but performance degraded again after a day or so.

It's a shame with Neon; there's some good content, but they don't seem to be interested in developing their tech - no 4K, no HDR. Sky seem to be treating it as a cash cow.

I watched Neon last night, 2 eps of Last of Us, it was normal, like any other apps I use, no issues. ATV4 connected by ethernet to the router

Sky are currently focused on delivering their next generation set top box / sky pod on top of their new digital platform.

Anything related to Neon's app would be very much sucking hind tit right now.
