I use the planner daily.  Does not seem to be addressed and this error has me just about ready to give Sky the boot, have rung multiple times and even had your staff delete every recording on my box.  So dissatisfied and nobody calls to discuss my issues.  Anyway my main concern is why the heck I have 3 hours of live tennis recorded over 27 partially recorded sessions - some are 0 minutes recorded and some are 9 minutes.  Today I just had to delete 67 recordings of live tennis because they were all small chunks of recordings.  Honestly don’t know what I am paying for anymore.

Hello to SkyNZ!

I am someone who WAS excited about the new sky Box.  In fact I still am excited about it.  Love the on demand features. Love the streaming services being available as apps. Love that it is a chromecast device.  We have used MySky for a loooong time. We use the Planner & the TVguide feature on that service several times a day.  I was hopeful we could convert to the new box with it's additional features and it be sort of OK.

HOWEVER, I am sending the box back.  The decision to make the TVGuide a blue background with white text, has made it so hard to read My wife was practically frothing at the mouth with anger, at me, for being so stupid as to get this box.

I have just spent a fruitless hour on the phone with your support team, trying to ask them if I can change the "Theme" so I can choose a different colour background and text.

This box is running Android TV, SURELY you can make available a choice to choose a differnet colour scheme for background and text.  I DID find a setting saying to make the text "High Contrast" under accessability.  It made a TINY differance to how bright the text was.  It did NOT change the colour in any way.

My wishlist for the planner, is to have a list of shows - as text - not the messy great big icons they are now.  Again, this should be a choice I can make in my settings, not something forced on me.

In all honesty, I think you should have your developers see if they can build a CLASSIC SCREEN interface, for those features that existed on the old MySky, have the choice to set in your profile so the system works just like the old system.  Sure, you want to appeal to a new, younger demographic, but you still have a LOT of users who were quite happy with the old system.  Just giving those people an easy transition pathway would make it easier for them to switch, and that makes it easier for you to retain them.

Sadly, how the system is right now, is barely useable for my wife, and So our family is going back to the old My Sky, and I am hoping you can sort the mess out, and maybe I will be able to try again in future.

An improvement to the planner would be when you select a programme to look at its episodes, and you want to go to the bottom one - you should be able to press and hold the down button (or up) and it just keeps going through the list of episodes.

Right now, one programme we have recorded has around 90 episodes recorded, so to get to the one to watch, I have to press the down button around 90 times....

With that sort of situation, it is best to allow the up button to wrap around off the top directly to the bottom, and vice versus.  That is what I have customised into my MythTV frontend theme and it works well.

Another month gone, and no indication of when (or even if) Sky are going to fix any of the many annoyances with the new Sky Box software.

At the very least they could tell us what has been "prioritised" for update.

Dragging this  back to the top. My current 'old' SkyBox is on the blink and I've been offered a no-cost new SkyBox. Has the planner been sorted?

A resounding no to that.

Still no ability to jump to a point in a recording.  There's random freezes, missing recordings,  lack of visibility of programme details the planner, etc etc etc

But if you want a Chromecast that just about records, most of the time, then go for it.

In the context you are asking, I would suggest the new sky box is adequate, for someone who can live with being an early adoptor & if you are being offered it free of charge then go for it!

Received new box a few days ago still getting used to it but the set up was easy, don't like the graphics and screen going dim when pausing, it will be annoying when trying to see something when watching rugby etc. Would be good to be able to view the 'to watch' lists on the streaming services as well.

Less than ideal software on the new Sky box

1. As others have said deleting things you don't want to delete. In part, I would imagine this is remote technology, which is still a little like rain man, answering a question from half an hour ago.
2. You can't keep the sound on, or get picture in picture from the channel you are watching when you check the planner. i.e. you see an advert for a TV program you'd like to record, so you head into the planner to try and find it, but now you are blind to the show that has just come back on.
3. As others have said, the series link is more like 'record everything that has vaguely the same name'. You are effectively saying, yes, I'd like the all-blacks game and the highlights, and the delayed coverage, and the next day's replay of the match recorded, please. Coupled with point one, this makes life super frustrating.
4. Watching a program you are recording that is currently live, or you just pause to go back and check something, when you catch up, there are a multitude of errors. From blank screen to, leaving the screen dimmed with whatever it was trying to do up, like fast forward.
5. The box often reboots overnight and doesn't resume to the channel it was left on; I don't want to record breakfast TV, but being able to rewind to that last news bulletin would be useful.
6. Responsiveness of trying pause, rewind, fast forward or play (again possibly down to point one)

Other points,

I am on about the 15th hard reset (losing my recording programs anyway) as Amazon Prime crashes the box to a point where it asks for a QR code that isn't there.
Apple TV just doesn't load any more, but I don't want to lose everything again.

I have resorted to a Amazon fire stick to watch anything over than Sky through the Sky box.

The single BIGGEST way to improve the Planner feature would be to have an option for a "classic" Planner interface.

The community has spoken, Loudly.  It would be great to have some direct feedback from @SkyNZ

Any chance at all you could share a roadmap of what is being looked at to make improvements?

So five months now since they asked for feedback, and it's clear that Sky don't care what we think.

Still no news or timetable as to when they might fix the very obvious issues with their new boxes, which have been apparent to any long time MySky user since they first rolled them out back in the second quarter of 2023.

@MajorFigJam @Kiltannen. Totally agree. I am also disappointed that the latest STB 2.26.52 update and their current list of "Known Issues & Status" does not address/mention any of the issues raised on this Forum.

So this week I receive "Great News" that Sky have improved series recording and video playback.

Sadly, there's no noticeable improvement for me, and they still haven't fixed the critical issue of not being able to skip to a point jn a recording.

On the bright side, for them not me, I can now select pay per view items more easily.

Sorry Sky, but I'm not doing that until you fix the real problems with the box.
