dougierydal:
Last year they waited until the last minute (compared to the year before anyhow) to announce it, assume if they do it will bump up $50 to $399
I would take $399, but my money is on $449.

You're probably right, that's $37 a month, whereas the month by month with the 4k is now $60 a month
Will the new sky box receive the new UHD channel though the satellite or internet streaming?
Now i am disappointed that Sky doesn't have the FIFA world cup, it would be fantastic watching it in 4k, anyone know if TVNZ+ are any closer to 4k
Common sense is not as common as you think.

New box gets UHD via satellite.
They reckon the pod can do 4k? I Highly doubt this. The pod I've got can barely do 1080p. Tried to fire up plex 4k and yea the buffering was not good.
Returning it in December so I hope that they can do me a Skysport now deal.
Well I see the new Sky Sports 1 4K UHD channel is now live. I guess we'll have to wait until the Cricket comes on this afternoon to judge the picture quality. The golf that's being broadcast now is probably just upscaled HD content.
Do we know if they're broadcasting UHD in HDR? Or is it just SDR? I haven't seen any reference to HDR unfortunately.
I noticed my white sky box had updated the channel listing to 4K last night on SP1, looked a little crisper (assuming it was upscaled HD at that point). Looking forward to seeing how the cricket is later.

It won't be HDR.
Interested to see what it looks like on the Sky Pod this afternoon. Got a 4K TV but not watched anything in 4K yet.
Just watching the build up on sky sport now and I can’t tell a difference at all between the uhd and the HD channel 😅.
And Im watching on a 77’’ C1 OLED with an Apple TV
Build up might be using studio cameras vs the actual sport being 4k?
CPU: AMD 5900x | RAM: GSKILL Trident Z Neo RGB F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC-32-GB | MB: Asus X570-E | GFX: EVGA FTW3 Ultra RTX 3080Ti| Monitor: LG 27GL850-B 2560x1440

I’m hoping that might be the case. I can still see a-lot of compression artifacting especially when theres alot of rapid motion on screen just like the regular HD channel.
Build up is HD upscaled. UHD when play starts, you'll see a UHD bug.
