I would imagine that their licence allows them to broadcast it, but not to otherwise distribute it.

I have to ask, and no judgement here, what is it about this game that warrants such effort to view/have it?

It's the one final Otago have won, honestly most people who were sports fans in the city in the 90s went to it and it's been lost media for about the last 10-15 years. Not even the Otago Rugby Union had/have a copy.

Scott3:

I understand the other comment about pulling the drive from your sky box is correct. While I have not tried it myself, I understand the sky box records the encrypted satellite signal, and decodes whenever you play back the content. So no useful content from pulling the drive. And the only option to extract content is at 1:1 playback speed via video output like HDMI.

Given you already have a NAS, Yeah, the obvious solution is to get this digital as soon as possible, avoiding DVD, tapes etc.

So if I'm understanding you correctly, the HDMI feed goes into the splitter which itself goes into the recording USB from Jaycar which then feeds into the laptop with a recording software running?
And that could be done when playing back a recording from the skybox too?

Find someone with a 3rd party decoder that still works with the old sky cards

Haha, you'd think of all media to hold on to Otago would have a copy

How about screen recording SKY Go from your computer? OR if SKY decides to allow customers to view later on SKY go, you could use a app called XDM to download the video off SKY Go. I'm sure it would be fine if your a SKY Sport customer. Up to you.

Like others here, I do have a setup with the ability to record shows. I should be able to record this for you.

At-least with a few of us doing it you'll be able to pick the best quality recording!

When is the game supposed to be airing?  I'm not seeing anything in the guide other than a replay of this years quarter final between those two teams.

I have the setup that fe31nz mentions so could record it.

Hey, I just checked the schedule for tonight, looks like it's still listed for 1.15am on Sky Sport Select if you're still able to do this :)

I set it to record on mysky. If all else fails I believe I have an old DVD recorder I could potentially pop it onto a disc for you.
