Zippity:
BiggusDoggus: It wouldn't be a very attractive option anyway - it would take over 3 years of rentals to make up the $599, and you'd be responsible for any repairs etc.

Rubbish!!

How about arguing with real facts and not just the chip on your shoulders :(

Hold on!!

1/ I was basing my comments on the "facts" provided by Sky.
2/ And besides, what kind of warranty period does the box have if you buy it outright? As in, if it blows up within the first 40 months (40 x $15 = $599 (ish) will they replace it free of charge? If so, then all good I suppose.

BiggusDoggus: Sky do not provide an account if you are on Direct Debit, unless there is a change to the amount being billed (and even then I have my suspicions about if they do or not).
Since this was an error on their part, they did not send an account. Which apparently was also an error on their part.
Blah blah.

This isn't true. I pay via DD from one of my credit cards and still get the account posted to me every month

OK - last time:

Paying the $599 does not mean you've bought the box outright. It's simply a ONE-OFF RENTAL payment. Sky still owns the box. Sky is responsible for all issues with it. You NEVER own the Sky box regardless of how you pay for it.

Well, we haven't received an account from them since I don't know when. Again, I was told by Sky that we would only get one if the amount changed.

Hopefully now that I've cancelled the DD I'll start getting an account - otherwise they wont get paid, I suppose!

Right - gotcha. My apologies.

We are on direct debit from Sky and receive an account every month detailing all charges and amounts and at the bottom it tells you it is a direct debit - do not pay this invoice. We paid our $599 upfront ( well our American Express Rewards points did ) for MySky 1 two years ago and they upgraded us to HDi at no extra cost, and it is only two years instead of three to end up paying the $599 off because it's $15 a month plus the $10 HD ticket per month if you rent it, not many people who get HDi wouldn't get the HD ticket - that's the main point of MySky HDi.
