zkcow: Personally I've always thought Sky should offer a 'buffet' service of sorts, where you choose which channels you want to have.

For example I would only choose to have Discovery, Nat Geo, Animal Planet, maybe Documentary/History/CI and Living. Maybe the Box or something too. I don't need Disney or Nickolodeon or most of the channels Sky offers.

Except that people would want this to lower their overall price. Something sky doesnt want.
I too find half the stuff on sky to be trash.

I agree, and it is repeated constantly, i think most customers will have channels they would be prepared to throw out and the buffet idea would be great although as said Sky would be unwilling to do such a thing as they would be making less money

OT but i'd be interested to see how some ppl get on with long distance freeview hd reception with the sky uhf channels switched off.
I remember talking to someone about getting a signal in north taranaki from mt te aroha but sky sport would of caused too much interference

And they are gone... just carried the old tv to the shed to watch while sorting stuff out, did an auto tune on it (no antenna) and it got them all, one was showing the screen before, just went to reorder the presets to put the useful channels in order and the others are gone.

about 10 years too late IMO. Should just turn the tx off to save power too.

Juice TV is still running in Auckland too and along with Trackside I don't think you can call them NZ's First "All Digital" Broadcaster.

Juice TV and Trackside are independently run.  Sky don't own or run them.

Yes, but 'all digial broadcaster' wasn't Sky's quote.. it was 'all digital PAY TV broadcaster'.  Prime is not a Pay TV channel.. it's free to air. :P

I wish juice was on freeview, it needs a 24hr music channel, not the poor excuse for one that C4 is.

Might want to check that, the quote goes "Our analogue UHF pay TV network will shut down at midnight tonight which means that SKY will become New Zealand’s first “all digital” TV broadcaster."

http://www.skytv.co.nz/media-releases-current.aspx?art_id=31364

So false advertising by Sky? :-D

LOL and there is even a banner ad for Prime news at the moment on that above site :-D
