Same problem for me.

I got up at 1.30 am to use the bathroom and noticed the blue lights on the box and it's still going now some 8 hours later.  TV shows the blue screen saying update in progress.

Can't get thru to Sky on any of their numbers.

Yep same here too. Noticed the upgrade at about 7.20am (probably has been going well before that) and is still stuck on the blue screen at 9.30am

Customer Service just said to unplug box for 10secs and re plug, and then took note of my Software Version... They said (when questioned) reset button is known to reset, then normal service for min or two, then update can happen again.

It looks right now as though there might be a problem with the software stack being played out by SKY. SKY play out an 'upgrade trigger' which tells the decoder to reboot and go into upgrade mode. If the software stack, which contains the current software for all decoder models, isn't built right, then the decoder gets stuck at this point, looking for its new software (2.5.5.9 in this case).

Rebooting while the trigger is being played out will take your decoder back to the old software (2.5.5.8) but after a few minutes the trigger will be received and the decoder will go back into the download. SKY have turned off the trigger so any decoder that reboots should just stay on 2.5.5.8.

That clears things up a little more. :)

Hmm, interesting, my decoder rebooted on it's own and sky is now back, seems they sent out a mass reboot trigger.

So in time once a correct build of 2.5.5.9 is loaded it should upgrade?

It all seems happy now (so the report from the sickbed states)

A mass reboot command wouldn't help boxes stuck in download, as they don't receive the messages in this state. The decoders will time out after an hour or so. Now that the download trigger is off the air they will just stick with 2.5.5.8.

Thanks for the heads-up this morning Cyril. You won't get 2.5.5.9 now until SKY reinstates the trigger and the software. It is a very small update and just fixes a RecordMe bug relating to PPVs.

No worries, I had too rug rats who get up at 6:30 hassling me, well actually the TV didnt work so they started kicking and fighting and wrestling each other (such is sibbling love) and the noise had me up to sort it out.

What a balls up.

I left home this morning with my decoder going through the update and it had not finished after several hours.  Not sure if its still trying to do the update or not - guess I will find out when I get home and then have to do the reboot.

I think its shocking how Sky performs updates and does not have any support staff on hand to answer queries.  Sure the updates are supposed to work and are done when most people are unaware but surely it makes good sense to offer support for those it does affect in the off chance somethign does go wrong.

Does anyone know what the update was suppose to change anyway?

Check mania's post two posts above, a minor RecordMe bug that effects PPVs only

That question has already been answered twice on this page, including the very post before yours.
