davidcole: I would like some replays as well. But I got the $39 for 4 months. I also have access to sky go. But prefer the atv interface to chromecast
I agree, ATV does rock, its all there, you can ditch the outdoor aerial for NZ content. The pace of change with Sky sinceBennett took over has been impressive. And he has nit been there long. Im still hoping that a full Sky app will be there for all platforms, especially ATV4. Bye MySky. Just need true OD and its there

yeah I don’t know why they don’t expand neon, or roll out sky go for Apple TV. Though one is choose content, the other is linear.

I've made a video comparing Sky Go and SSN side-by-side. Make sure to select one of the 60fps options to see the difference.

Has anyone done a comparison of SSN and sky via Vodafone tv? I checked snooker and golf tonight on SSN and could see what was meant by the quality ... the golf was the worst.

To me, the right side was better. But thats on pc. Will try on 4k Oled tonight. Which way were they?

I'd be keen to know this too. The President's Cup is on this weekend and Sky are offering a 4 day pass for $9.99 for SSN. Not bad value but if the framerate is the same as it was when I was using Fanpass then I'll give it a miss. Golf is unwatchable at 25FPS.
If the VTV provides broadcast quality then I'll just sign up for a month of Sky Sports. Unfortunately with the President's Cup on FTA channel 9 in Oz I won't get it on Kayo so have to find an alternative. I tried using the Nine Go streamining app over a VPN yesterday but it looked like 480p 25FPS!

I concur. Seemed smoother. Resolution on both looked great, though that may be an artefact of the images being downsized too. Left side was noticeably jerky to me.

Yeah I thought the right side looked better.... I was just looking mainly at the cue ball movement.

Was it Sky go on the left and SSN on the right?
Kirk
Sky Sport Now on the left.
Sky Go on the right.
I find that aside from the ball movement, the "judder" on the SSN stream is quite evident when Mark Selby bends down to take the shot at the 1:00 mark. The background movement is a lot smoother on the right.
Keep in mind that there is some frame skipping even on the Sky Go stream because this is a 60fps desktop capture of a 50fps stream.
Kirk
Using Matt Huisman's Kodi add-on which basically detects all available streams, one can see that Sky Sport Now definitely offers 720p50 @ 4.5mbps and 1080p50 @ 8mbps. However, it seems that even if the stream *is* encoded at 50fps, the content itself is not.
Watching on Chrome and choosing 1080p as the quality option then inspecting the network traffic, one can also see that the 8,000kbps stream is being used. It's simply not 50fps content.
I find it bizarre that Sky is seemingly maintaining multiple streams for the same channels. Why not just use the same stream for both services ? Both are Widevine encrypted and hosted on the Akamai CDN.
I've noticed that the quality when Chromecasting to my TV is better than if I use the PS4 app.
I'll assume that Sky are not looking to introduce a SSN app for Android TV?
