I'll assume that Sky are not looking to introduce a SSN app for Android TV?

I would expect them too. That seems to be their platform of choice for non decoder subscribers.

I'd expect them to release one eventually for Sony TVs that some smart cookie may be able to crack for the rest of us to side load.

I wouldn't hold my breath.  I was told that they have no plans at present to make an Android TV app.  In fact, they allowed me to cancel my 12-month subscription based on this fact (I had a bit of a moan).

If you have Android TV, your best bet is to install Kodi and use Matt Huisman's add-ons for Sky Sport Now or Sky Go.  Unfortunately, if you have a Sony TV, you will probably find (as I have) that Kodi doesn't want to play nicely with said add-ons right now.

My Sony works ok with Kodi and the MHuisman SSN addon, was watching the cricket all last night.  Whats the issue?

I'll send you a PM.  I've touched on this in the thread already and don't want to bore everyone else again.

So with all these great frame rates on Sky Sport Now, watching ASB Classic tennis is painful as the ball judders across the screen. Using Chromecast (tried both 50fps and default settings), and Chromecast built in (which is apparently not supported). Sky support told me to try my computer which was worse. I've come to the conclusion that it is probably a 25fps or something feed from the venue, as when I see ads and promos there is less judder. I fiddled a bit with the motion settings on my Sony TV.

While personally not a sport fan, I reckon it's good to see the new CEO at least trying something. Mr Fellet would never have done something like this.

Maybe the (next) Rugby World Cup will be on Sky again?

Yup, it's incredibly frustrating that they don't fix this.  They have perfectly good streams already with Sky Go - why should Sky Sport Now subscribers have to settle for 25fps?

I've sent multiple messages on Facebook and Twitter with no response at all.  Has anyone else here done the same?  Perhaps we just need to drum up enough noise on the issue.

I winced when I saw judder of golf on SSN, but then I watched it on MySky, it was similar

Some of it may be source related

I've raised this with Sky on multiple occasions now, with no responses yet received. Watching cricket on SSN vs SkyGo I can notice an incredible difference. Ball judder on SSN is huge, SkyGo there is barely any, IF any at all!

Hopefully can gain some traction on this with them, as I'd prefer to switch to SSN for my primary source.

Glad you're fighting the good fight too!  Yup, I'm a paying SSN user, but I currently exclusively use a friend's Sky Go account to watch sport because the difference is too big to ignore.

Agree. It is frustrating.

I posted on their facebook wall saying it has declined in quality.

I sent them my email and they said they'll pass it on the the tech team. But nothing past that.

Re: source material

Yes this has an impact but not in every case.

Example; watching the Phoenix games at the newly licensed SKY Stadium (Cake Tin)

Source looks 720p max! Overlay of graphics also shows signs of tearing during high speed zooms etc

As far as that is concerned it's their own fault - they are throttling it clearly. Can't blame someone elses source material when it's their own.

My friend has SkyGo and it looks killer on a 4k tv - SSN not even close.

Anyone remember their 1080p promise at the start?

Similar here, but there are no replays on OD. Unless you want to fudge with sending a browser to the TV within 24 hours, thats my beef that keeps me on Sky
