I don't believe it is source material related.  I've done side-by-side comparisons elsewhere in this thread showing the same "feed" from Sky Sport on both services.  SSN is clearly 25fps (despite being in a 1080p@50 container format and the same 8mbps bitrate as Sky Go).  It's as though somewhere along the line when encoding the "50fps" stream for SSN, they are downsampling the source frame rate to 25fps.

I've raised this with Sky on multiple occasions now, with no responses yet received. Watching cricket on SSN vs SkyGo I can notice an incredible difference. Ball judder on SSN is huge, SkyGo there is barely any, IF any at all!

Hopefully can gain some traction on this with them, as I'd prefer to switch to SSN for my primary source.

Similar here, but there are no replays on OD. Unless you want to fudge with sending a browser to the TV within 24 hours, thats my beef that keeps me on Sky

My android app can replay things in the last 24hrs also. And you can cast from there too.

Can anyone guess why? Is it a thing to keep Sky Sport customers having a premium experience over us? I don't get it

I am not sure.  Until very recently, Sky Go was limited to standard definition and had been that way for years.  So they clearly didn't really care much about the service.  I can't help but feel that if they had make a bigger noise about the improvements to Sky Go (complete with ad campaigns and marketing) and not even bothered with releasing Sky Sport Now, they would have secured more full-blown Sky subscribers (which ultimately is what they need).

Agree. It is frustrating.

I posted on their facebook wall saying it has declined in quality.

I sent them my email and they said they'll pass it on the the tech team. But nothing past that.

Re: source material

Yes this has an impact but not in every case.

Example; watching the Phoenix games at the newly licensed SKY Stadium (Cake Tin)

Source looks 720p max! Overlay of graphics also shows signs of tearing during high speed zooms etc

As far as that is concerned it's their own fault - they are throttling it clearly. Can't blame someone elses source material when it's their own.

My friend has SkyGo and it looks killer on a 4k tv - SSN not even close.

Anyone remember their 1080p promise at the start?

The phoenix games on MySky @ 1080i have looked poor in the last few weeks, and the Bein sport logo is way too sharp so ends up jagged & 'flashing'

I thought it was an issue with the sky box or TV to start with (like they'd removed my HD ticket)

And the cricket tests with Australia, every time someone bowled, their legs became a blur.  And each time a ball was hit for say a 4....it would judder for a bit them stablise.

They infer from the tweets that hey this is new, but they know that SkyGo has been ramped up and SSN hasn't

Take me. I would ditch Sky to get SSN, but SSN isnt good enough and I cannot replay to my satisfaction. So, they are causing me not to churn. Sports lovers will get SSN, so extra subscribers. Its probably working as designed

Dont have Android. I have an ATV4. Im not wasting my time airplaying my Macbook to my TV, nor carrying my Macbook around to watch a replay. And a replay that I HAVE to watch in 24 hours. Its 2020 I'm not adding hoops to do daily stuff

They are looking into frame-rate which is good too.

I remember FanPass was 720p on the PS4 app but I could deal because the smoothness of picture made up for the lack in raw quality

Bit disappointing the evolution of FanPass seems to be dragging the chain after a decent start

Interesting reading the issues with SSN. I subscribed last month and must say I am pretty impressed by the picture and app. I watched the majority of all three Black Cap vs Aus cricket tests and there were very few instances of stuttering etc. There would be the occasional change of bitrate but it was not that often. However, my parents are staying with me and Dad used his SkyGo app to cast the cricket and that would constantly change from low to high bitrate and then back again. Pixelated images and stuttering was constant. Switch over to my SSN account and it was fine.

I'm casting it from my android phone to chromecast (version 1). I am on VDSL too if that makes any difference.

Pretty happy with the 3 months for $99. Will need to decide what to do when the 3 months is up.

I've watched the Balck Caps v Aussie cricket series on Sky Sport Now and had no juddering or stuttering issues.

Watching via the Matt Huisman Kodi plugin on NVIDIA Shield on an old Panasonic plasma at the second best resolution/fps available (maybe 720 at 50ps?). Looks good to me. Happy with it at $39.99 a month with no contract.
