ockel: Interesting - Fanpass have added a monthly option to its offering.
Sky Sports 1-4 streaming for 31 days for $56.

So $15/day, $20/week or $56/mth.

Ooh, that's what I've been waiting for. Given that a cricket series normally spans a month, it'll be much more economical. And yes, I echo the sentiment about an Apple TV app. I watched the pink-ball test match airplayed to the TV and it looked great, but it would be good not to have to tie up the mobile device for a whole test match :)

Just "chatted" with them and they have no news on an Apple TV app. So I guess they aren't even developing one as if I where, I would actually be telling people it is coming.

I support this news, they have finally realised there are people that will happily pay for Fanpass but will never be Sky subscribers thus its revenue they wouldn't have otherwise received.

I'd like to see the pop up channels included - but one can wish.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Companies can sometimes be strangely coy with their future plans. Especially backward thinking ones like Sky.

Am I right in thinking that Fan Pass is a third-party application that Sky is using to provide streaming services? In which case Fan Pass themselves may be working on it. I would think any streaming content provider would be keen to have an app on the ATV, rights permitting.

Neulion provides the platform.  It claims to have more sports streaming apps on Apple TV than any other provider.   NHL, NBA, MLS, UFC, tennis to name just a few.  Given its on ipad's and iphones it doesnt seem a stretch.

Does Lightbox Sports stream the English Premier League to AppleTV?   Same platform - Neulion.  Also on iPad's and iPhones.  If not maybe there is something else afoot re:cost or some other reason.

LB has stated that the ATV4 is on their plans. Not much word simce. I'd say that instead of inadvertently giving the wrong expectation from delays, that one day we will hear its done. Perhaps the same with Sky. Supporting the ATV4 makes their services immediately more accessible to more users non IT literate users, whioch is crucial. Streaming is still a geek, complicated thing for many. Its not just the older generation, there are many many  users of all ages who are just not into IT, they just use the gadgets

I had it on most of yesterday, streaming to ATV4 via their app on my old iPad. It was really good - no issues and nice clear picture. I paid for the month so that gets me this test plus all the ODI and 20/20 matches through to 17 January, which works out really good value on a per-game basis. I am so happy to have found my streaming sport solution.

So thats about 10 games (not including any Australian tests, ODI's or BBL?) - about $5.60 a game.  Not bad.

Yes - this test, plus 5 ODIs from Boxing Day to January 5th and 4 Twenty-20 matches before my month expires. Plus any other sport that is showing on Sky Sport 1-4 during that time, so probably all the Aussie cricket too. I've seen some of the Big Bash (?) games on there.

I'll probably sign up again for the following month to capture the remaining Pakistan games and the Australian tour. If I miss one ODI and delay my sign up a few days I'll manage to squeeze in the last test.

As critical as I have been of Sky this is a large step in the right direction. The monthly option is a reasonable price and is capturing consumers like myself who cannot justify $120 a month for Sky (Sport and HD).
