PhantomNVD: I have two profiles but no pin?

Just checked. It definitely asks for a PIN and if I leave it blank and it hit save it says I must have one.

As an avid Android / Samsung user, I was keenly looking forward to sign up to this service and watch on my tablets and Samsung smart TV

I guess I will be forced to continue with Netflix which support these devices

When does the beta finish? Do we all get kicked off after 30 days or can we keep testing right up till launch?

I believe they are going to do a purge before the 30 days are over.

Threads gone so quiet?

(What a terrible 200th post)

The majority of the discussion moved to the Beta Issues Report thread I guess no one has any outstanding general questions, (except the end date, but I expect that'll be announced with the announcement of the launch date).

Lightbox launch date:

Lightbox has today announced its highly-anticipated online TV service will go live at 12.01am on Thursday 28th August.

Lightbox CEO Kym Niblock says, “We’re pleased to be able to give people a date to look forward to and we’re even more excited about unveiling the full line-up of TV shows when the service goes live.

“Lightbox is about giving New Zealanders more choice when it comes to how they watch TV and with a free 30-day trial there’s plenty of incentive for people to give it a go, enjoy hours of award-winning television and see what they think.”

New Zealanders will also enjoy access to first-run exclusive TV shows including 24: Live Another Day, Vikings, Alpha House, Arrested Development and Outlander.

Top TV shows already confirmed in the Lightbox line-up include Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad, House of Cards and Modern Family. More shows, including further first run exclusive titles, will be revealed when Lightbox launches.

“We’re confident our content line-up includes shows that people want to watch and we’re looking forward to showing New Zealand that we’re a serious player in the entertainment space,” adds Kym.

The "purge" will happen a couple of days in advance of our launch. We'll send out an email to everyone on the beta with a fair advance warning.

We'll do a couple of production updates before that, though.

Lightbox - we are online TV.

I'm torn.. the service has proven to be an overwhelming success with my 21mo who has commandeered the ipad and thinks that on demand kids programming is just the best, but it is still not enough of a Sky replacement for my household to justify the additional expense or the removal of Sky at this stage. Do live post-sky i will probably need netflix/hulu etc which probably negates any need for lightbox

5yr old was watching the Madagascar Penguins on it this morning which got some laughs before school.  If we get it would prob have to pay more to up the broadband allowance (hint: make it unmetered on Spark:).

Launch also reported on Stuff - spot the geekzone reference in the comments..

Big talk in the article about Chromecast, Hybrid TVs/Set-top boxes and other media players which I thought weren't "supported".  Apart from PC/Mac and iPad has anyone got this to work properly on any media devices - does a Chromecast actually work?  Looks to me like the Aussies have hijacked that story!

Procrastination eventually pays off.
