I've not had many issues at all with SkyGo and the sport channels either on a desktop or my S4... I'm actually surprised at how well it does work! :)

I'd given up completely on isky, it was so laughably bad, but thought I'd give the re-brand a go (Did isky have such a bad reputation they had to dump the name?).

1. The interface is slightly better, the stream seems to work OK on the ipad. In-app DVR is cool. However there is no excuse to not launch with an Android app (4.0+) these days.
2. The limitations are a complete joke, and any improvements made to the underlying infrastructure are counted by the absurd DRM policies.

Yup, just as I expected, Sky TV are still stuck, scrambling frantically to try and become a modern company, but failing spectacularly.

I'd love to see SkyTV primarily act as a core content provider. Their Rugby and Sports production is up there with the best in the world imo, it's their retail division that is the issue.

Maybe once UFB's coverage increases we'll see some local startups buying live coverage rights to Sky's Sports.

Why do you have Sky then?

Sky Go is an international brand, I saw it on as overseas downloaded program recently

In app DVR? You mean remote record, that's been out for an age on the Sky app

Many posts I read are seemingly that the content doesn't suit, but everyone has a different content requirement. Like any service provider they need an average return per subscriber, you cannot expect them to give you a sport event for $2 when it suits. Also, if there was more competition, say like EPL , some will still want some of Sky and will pay more. If there were a few Sky like providers, I'd expect all the cool stuff would be across all of those, so you would pay more or miss out. The large subscriber base is all voluntary, no one is forced to use them.

Re android app, I cannot comment but perhaps fragmentation where many devices uses many differing CPU/GPU Is a possible reason. With Apple that have excluded some devices, assuming to ensure a proper experience

Today is the first day where the cricket stream is absolutely pathetic. Previously I've had no issues whatsoever.

It loads, plays for about 5 seconds then freezes. Restart the app and it does the same thing. Repeat x5, and then in it finally plays for about 2 minutes, and then random freezing again, or 'stream error occurred, do you wish to remote record?' error message pops up and the stream closes.

Too many people trying to watch this game on today?

I came in about 45 minutes towards the end of the game and the PQ was bad  but after about 10 minutes it got real good..  It's interesting when you look at your devices on line that it only show PCs with Chrome web browser  but not the others..  ChromeCast maybe??

Today is the first time I've been able to get Sky Go to work. Using IE instead of Chrome seems to have made a big difference to me.

OK, I have an iPad Air 128Gb, on a wifi extender achieving 10mbit. The tennis has been sweet, maybe the cricket differs? I digested on here that an iPad is better than a PC. What I do see is that there can be a few seconds of poor quality before it goes to close to HD. Can be 2 secs, can be 5 secs

I have Sky because it's only costing me a fraction (promo) of their normal premiums. Otherwise I wouldn't and I would source all my content elsewhere, and watch rugby elsewhere.

That is not an excuse regarding Android, especially If they targeted any high end 4.0+ device, much like they're only providing it on certain ios devices. It was a valid excuse for smaller developers in 2011.

I was referring to the ability to live-pause in-app. Useful feature, oops should have called it live-pause!

The stream is working perfectly for me on PC (Chrome) but is having the same issues that minigopher17 mentioned on the ipad, basically unuseable (on the same connection as my PC - 10mbps through SNAP)

DarkCypher: no, but Sommet sports will throw a lot of money to get it when its up for renewal next year.

Do you really think that Sommet Sports has more money than Sky TV?

Depends on who is the money behind Sommet Sports..

Wont happen.

Sky creates the rugby content. The epl content was just resold. A new provider would need to create a whole outside broadcast setup with hundreds of HD cameras, commentators, studios etc.

Wont happen.

Sky Go dramas .....

Trying to stream Sky Go to my Thinkpad R60 using XP SP3 and IE8 .... with latest Flash and Java updates. Signed in and linked to my Sky account .... it all used to work under the iSky system.

But now when attempting to stream Sky Sport 1 .... I get a minute of the advert for the
Six Nations Rugby and then a dead stop with a rotating circle ..... followed by

"Sorry but we are unable to perform this request"

Same effect for other live channels and catch-up movies etc

I have googled "Sorry but we are unable to perform this request" but nothing shows up at all on google.

I can stream video from TVNZ On Demand and stream TV3 replays no problems .....

If anybody can give suggestions ..... would be very much appreciated !!

Canceled my sky subscription last year when sky didn't get motoGP.

I just get the HD torrent for it. Its not live but way better than paying for all the skyTV trash.

This is what was happening on our Samsung Smart TV. Sky have now told me finally that their Skygo system does NOT support Smart TVs. (Something that ISky did very well)
Great model for the future SkyTV....yeah right.
