Wow. $5.75 to *lend* me a 3 meter ethernet cable as part of the install. I can buy one for less.

It's that sort of nickel-and-diming that puts me off paying circa $100 a month for their service.

nzlegs: /n my future. I could opt for a WiFi feed, but that would cost amonthly hire fee.

Site says one off lending fee, not a monthly one

yes you could, but for those that dont have any clues what an ethernet cable is, $5.75 isnt too bad, and considering DSE would probably charge you $15 for the same thing.

it also says this:
"This is a one off fee that covers shipping, handling and unit cost. We are lending you a connection device to enhance your SKY experience."

so it includes shipping

I stand (er - make that sit back) corrected as I have a couple of these cables to hand.

So it will not cost a bean.

And the cheapest pair of powerline adapters I can find from PBTech..... $82.80 (incl delivery).  Or from Sky $64.  Those nickel-and-dimers.  Makes me soooooo angry.

$64 for powerline adapters is a competitive price. If that's what they were offering to sell them for I would have no issue. But being expected to pay close to the retail purchase price only to be lent them, and presumably having to return them if you cancel your subscription, isn't such a great deal.

The SKY Tech for my grandmothers house came around yesterday to fix her SKY issue with the LNB, Great bloke and mentioned that new boxes had a delayed launch pushed through to today, he said she missed out on one day of getting a new box. So 2 ways to get them is, a. wait for the crew to call you. b. an issue that requires a tech call out he can swap the old box/es on the spot.

When I moved here from the UK just over two and half years ago, I unpacked my container and realised I had packed my UK Sky HD box (well it was mine and didn't "belong" to Sky).  I had at the time just signed up to the NZ Sky - which still had the rubbish EPG, so for fun I plugged in my UK Sky box, with its HD updated EPG, and Sky NZ viewing card.  I could get a perfect picture of the various menu's and stuff from the UK box, obviously I couldn't view anything in terms of TV shows and the like and my planner wasn't accessible, but it did kind of work.  As there was no real point in me holding onto the box I slung it, as soon as my contract ended I ditched sky too as it was ridiculously overpriced - and been with Freeview and Netflix ever since...

I don't want no sugar in it - thank you very much

That would be the epic-est fail ever, to have all the MySky's do their upgrade during the final.
I wonder if the TAB is taking odds on that happening?
