Have had lightbox since it started (free the whole time) but don't use it as it is inconvenient - you would think with Netflix making it harder to access stuff worth watching that Lightbox would be trying as hard as possible to have a compelling easy to use product - lack of updates shows the complete opposite - seize the opportunity Lightbox

They are certainly trying. They have a ton of platforms - web, PS4, Chromecast, iOS, Android, Smart TVs, etc. Apple TV support is literally in progress as we speak - it is so close to being a reality (both Airplay and Apple TV 4 app).

Apple have various processes that things have to go through which will be adding to Lightbox's delay.

It's been nearly 9 months since AirPlay stopped working with the launch of ios9 and the launch of Apple tv4. I realise that this is not there largest market of subscribers and that they needed to make adjustments to the delivery platform but surely they are not that inept. I think it must be a licensing issue like with the tvnz on demand app for apple tv4

We have just dumped sky, too expensive and too full of crap. We don't watch sports so sky is irrelevant.

My efforts are now going into geo-unblocking.

HATE ordinary TV now having used Netflix for so long. HATE the ad breaks, HATE the format of so many shows where they repeat themselves over and over for benefit of channel hoppers.

Hell, even the News has become "entertainment" where they try and fit in a giggle fest, but by the time they fit in the sports is news, reporter A say something about sports then reporter B says basically the same thing but standing outside and the reporter C says it all again in the Sports section there is actually very little real News being reported. It is shallow, poorly reported, repeated rubbish.

I heard its more a technical issue

As LB is free to all Spark subscribers as of today, is there any update on Airplay and ATV4?  Any hint or rough guide will do

Yes there are technical issues involving DRM and licensing, as well as issues with the implementation of Airplay. Then, with the release of Apple TV 4, developing a proper app will have been priority number one as far as that is concerned. I can assure you that Apple TV and Airplay support has been pretty high up the priority list - particularly recently. The Apple TV 4 app in particular is quite nice to use.

Interestingly, Lightbox's apps are developed by a third party, which will have added some complexity and delays no doubt. Then there is always Apple with their various systems and processes.

I've been told semi-reliably this will be within a few weeks.

Excellent. Reading between the lines, its probably done, and just at Apple to be vetted. Cooler weather and Sparks Lightbox with BB, makes it a great time to strike while the iron is hot.

I'm sure the airplay fix won't be far away.  I'm more disappointed with TVNZOD.  They have just moved kidzone off sky to TVNZOD but there is no easy way for me to play it on my TV because they don't have an app for Apple TV and they don't allow airplay.

O for orsome. What was said the other day implied that.

TVNZ. Ratings are what they live for. Cutting a segment of the viewship isn't a great look. Who cares what means we have to watch, they want us to watch??

There are no "Apps" for the older ATVs.

Given how TV4 is now going to be a reality TV station, you are missing nothing.

My prediction, broadcast TV will be dead in NZ within 10 years. As more people turn to Netflix and the like people will become less tolerant of the adverts and poor programming.

Already, 90% of our "tv" is Netflix, we mostly watch the news on ordinary TV though that is becoming more infotainment than News these days, so its days are numbered too.

Hillary Barry I think saw the writing on the wall with TV3/TV4/etc becoming more sh!t than show and jumped ship to extend her career for a little longer.

Edited for clarity
