When I asked them last week, they just said they're aware of the issue and they're working on fixing it...

Good luck with that!

I got a 3-month free subscription to Lightbox through Skinny and I'm just using it to watch 'Suits'. As soon as I'm done, I'll cancel the subscription - I've had nothing but problems.

Hey guys,

Unfortunately this is not a quick fix - the issue is with how the content is encoded, and changing that is not a small task. As soon as I have an idea when it will be fixed, I'll share.

Hmmmm... I wonder if it's worth picking up a Chromecast - the other half is not enjoying watching on the iPad Mini.

Unlikely. More probable is early 2016, but I'm loath to put any firm dates on it at this stage.

It's not that hard to build the front end, it's the protected content side of things that takes a little longer to wrangle.

Weren't you saying, in another thread, that you had constant wifi dropouts on your Samsung TV?

No issues with Apple TV , other than you can no longer use lightbox with it but there are other service providers out there

Lightbox, just curious, can I ask why you are having such a problem with this when players like Netflix don't have an issue? I'll give you that Netflix has been around a long time, but this technology is newer than they are, and I'm sure they faced the same changes you did.

At least you gave me $12 off a Chromecast through Noel Leeming so I wasn't completely out of luck.

In order to fix the issue we have (and support the new Apple TV Gen4) we need to re-encode all of our content to support Apple's Fairplay DRM. Which we are doing, it just takes time. I assume that Netflix would have already had their content encoded for Fairplay, so they don't have the same issue we currently do.

Fairplay is not new is it? Its been around for years.  It surprises me that lightbox didn't plan for earlier.

Thanks for the insight! If only we lived in a world without DRM but with people who actually pay for content fair and square.
