Agreed! People still have Sky....really? It's 2015....if you've got VDSL or fibre...there is absolutely no reason why you would!yell (plus the RWC2015 is over for another four years)

i really get annoyed with statements like this, i have Sky and i had Netflix. I Gave up Netflix because i never watched it and i watch live sport 24/7 and i prefer Sky because live sport  looks good on my 55" tv and it's easy to use which is also one of the reasons Sky is still popular with a lot of older people. Just because you dont like Sky doesnt make it a bad product.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

What exactly is your contribution to this thread? You aren't on topic, you aren't adding any value.

Agreed. I wouldn't keep it at the price it sells for, but with recent discount promotions, it's excellent value.

From my understand about the software update (not my department however) only a install tech can do this manually.
You can't trick the decoder etc to do it (so don't try), the software update is controlled at the account level.  A different bit of hardware is needed to do the update manually which the install techs have.  They will also only do the update manually if you have an issue with the software update already on the decoder.
If you are running the old software and a tech comes out they will not do the update manually unless your account/decoders etc has had an issue with updating and have been selected for the update.

The update is big, and a few steps need to be taken to make sure things update correctly.

Actually, RWC2015 is over forever.

I remember in the UK when Sky UK had the big "On Demand" EPG update and people were doing a forced update.

Bearing in mind, I don't have a Sky NZ box so cant check this out - this is how we did it in the UK and it worked....If its any help to you guys feel free to have a go...

"Switch the box off at the mains. hold down the backup button on the box, switch power back on whist holding the backup button on the box down until the 4 LED's on front of the box come on and the "Updating System Software" message comes on-screen, remove your finger from the backup button if you haven't done so already, do not disturb for 10 or so minutes until the message disappears and the box reboots."

I don't want no sugar in it - thank you very much

I'm at work so don't have my MySky box handy, but I don't think there's a backup button on it - does this mean the back button (with the circular arrow)?

Yes, I believe so.

On the UK Sky boxes the backup button is on the top of the Sky+HD box at the back of the circular panel of buttons.

But this is just some "regular" update, not the On Demand one - that's not starting until later this month, right?

Not sure whether my problem is related but my mySKY has just stopped loading the Planner. Guide and live TV working fine but planner shows "Please wait..." endlessly. Have been patient but still won't load the Planner after about an hour.

Cheers,
Joseph

Edit... Crisis averted. This time, after 6 mins on "please wait" it has loaded. Very odd.
