So freeview 'should' work? Shouldn't it say it 'will' work? Without the EPG it is pretty much a door stop. I returned mine to the retailer and got a property freeview box,  when I knew that it wouldn't have the EPG, when they announced this last year.

Yes I noticed the "shoulds" in the email I received as well. Doesn't inspire confidence, one would have to say...

I guess we will all find out tomorrow. As far as I know the update pushed out to the igloo boxes strips out bits and converts them to freeview boxes.

I received the update automatically yesterday.

Freeview channels are now displayed in the their normal Freeview channel order/numbering and the only extra channel is a 'Igloo closing' channel - a static message that the Igloo service has closed and Sky has a deal for you.

A manual tune seemed to take a long time, the EPG is just populated with the Now/Next programmes and any other entries show 'No information' for the rest of the week.Still has the Menu when you power on, but a cut-down list of options are available.

Does anyone now whether the update is OTA or via the interwebs?  I decommissioned the igloo box as soon as SWMBO'ed channel packs expired, and the box is now upside down in a pile with it's cables...

Tried updating via the interwebs earlier, the unit detected that it needed an update, but didn't go any further than dire warnings not to disconnect the power or antenna.

I didn't heed the warnings, removed the power and moved the unit back to an antenna feed - powering on gave an error message, but then it sprung into life and started downloading the update ... from the looks of it, it's going to take a while.

Igloo website now directs you to https://www.sky.co.nz/igloo-closed which has an image of the new start screen - modified original without Igloo special bits. From the text looks like the OTA upgrade will be until March 15th but suggests that there may be a firmware download available after March 6th.

(If your TV doesn’t look like this after 1st March this means you haven’t received the automatic update. To manually download the update, come back to this page on 6th March.)

You could just plug the box in and get the firmware update...

Worked fine on two Igloos. Download the image to a USB key.Insert USB key side or rear and then reboot. Takes about 15 minutes to finish download and do a signal scan. Works great as a DTT zapper.

Did mine last night - took it out of the cupboard (it wasn't connected during the OTA update period) and ran the USB process over it and now its stuck on "Hang tight for a few minutes, your box is booting".  Left it overnight and it was still on there.  Reboot gives same result.  Called the 0800 number on the USB instructions page and they don't know what to do with it. They even told me I had called the wrong number then gave me the right number to call which was the one I had called them on.

Is the Igloo connected to the aerial? Perhaps it's looking for a signal during the boot up.

Bugger - my box just boots as normal, then asks to use the memory stick for live pause

Sounds like you OTA or USB upgrade has failed. There is no live pause on the new software. When the Igloo boots up are there three Igloo icons or white circles?

Three white Igloo equals old s.w.

Three white circles equals new s.w.
