Not good for NZ Rugby.

“On November 1, Sky disclosed that it has issued the union 21,801,325 shares at 92c each - or a total $20.06m - as part of the new Sanzaar deal involving All Blacks, Super Rugby and Mitre 10 Cup games through to 2026.”

Big respect to Spark Sport. I reactivated my subscription on Thursday after a few months break in time for the new F1 season. I then messaged them on the Friday shortly after the Melbourne cancellation announcement and they happily added back the suspension and fully refunded my $20.

I see on Facebook today they announced a "special hour of sporting news" tonight and in the comments are talking about putting together an "epic new sports package." Sounds like it may be the precursor to promoting replays and archive footage as premium content.

Personally have no interest in paying full price for old content and would prefer being given access to movies instead, but appreciate its an unprecedented event and not their fault.

Why not just cancel Sports and subscribe to Movies. They're around $10 cheaper.

Once a service has been had for a month, it can be canceled with a moments notice, and reinstated when service is suitable again with a moments notice.

Probably best to wait see what they offer first though, I can't see them allowing things to be as they are.

Good idea. I'll check the movie lineup, check sports lineup, wait a bit then decide

Paying up front for 12 months now doesn't seem like such a flash plan.

Excellent. Saves me the time taken to cancel it.

Hopefully Sky will do the same. Maybe offer Moivies at 50% discount for Sky sport affected subscribers, that would claw back some of the unavoidable losses. Id take that up

Darn it! Mis-read who was giving the freebie.

Oh, well back to cancelling Sky Sport.

Fair point – I hadn’t actually looked at the prices for a long time so didn’t realise there was much difference between Sport and Movies. I’ll hold off for a few days and see what Sky Sport offer. Spark Sport have just announced they are going to be free until May in the absence of any new content so that’s a good move.

If it makes you feel any better, you’re not the only one......I renewed my subscription for a further 12 months last Thursday.

Was then looking to be a full weekend of being a couch potato. How quickly things change. 🤔
