Good to see that the latest Sky STB app update at least removes the annoying "<-Back" display at the top left of the screen when FFWD/REWDing. i.e. It no longer displays over the Rugby score and Motorsport lap count.

Unfortunately the display is still dimmed when FFWD/REWDing which is annoying.

Still waiting for the ability to enter in the number of minutes to skip when viewing a large recording. e.g. Golf.
e.g. Keying 180 to jump to 3 hours into the recording. The old sky box had this functionality.

Ross.

Are we able to delete entire groups yet?  I record daily news and having to manually delete 67 episodes is a PITA.

Looks like you can now - if you go to one recording or from the tiles on the planner page, hold down OK, an option appears to delete all recordings. I think this is possibly new with the 18 April new sky box update.

Delete all recordings has been there from day 1 on mine, got box feb 23rd 2023. If you do delete all though the screen goes black and you can't watch any channel for a period of time which is hardly useful.

Funny, I never noticed it - there does seem to be a new message about the OK button - again unless I just never noticed it. Not super useful if mass delete is going to just take the box out of action for an extended period....

I think you're talking about two different "delete all" functions. The one that was there from Day 1 was the "DELETE" box at the bottom of the Planner, whereby you could delete an entire show and its recording schedule.

The one that has just appeared is accessed via holding the OK button when on a recording, and it offers you the option of deleting all recordings of that show, but it leaves the future scheduled recordings ready to be recorded. It only takes a second to do its job.

Hi

We have the old Satellite Sky box and have been emailed offered a free upgrade to the new one,

I am tempted but with the old one we can pack it up and take it to a high country huts we have access to as members of a RSA/Diistrict club and it works like at home (There is No phone or internet at the Huts )

Question, can you do that with the new Sky box

Many thanks Pete

I would think this will work, as it does still receive by satellite. You just won't get any of the advanced features

Would be good to find out for sure though!

Posted in another thread, if Sky are watching this thread the here it is:

Just tried the Sky "upgrade" offer, found significant user experience downgrades:

No favourite channels

No channel can play while the planner is displayed

No all-channel integrated app - nonFTA only via SkyGo

No adjustment to on-screen timeouts - programme info too quick to read - for everyone in our house(!)

...so I had Sky provision the old box back and reset everything as it was (same day).

Fortunately our two boxes are working fine but I suspect it will be a forced change if either develops problems, at that point I'll be going Freeview...guess this box is 5yrs behind the curve, all my streaming apps are already in one place on our AppleTV - where they will be staying.

Regards FireEngine

Not sure if Sky is still monitoring this thread, if so then can you PLEASE add the ability to directly position into a recording by minutes like you could do on the old box. e.g. Key in 180 minutes to position 3 hours in.

There are many sporting events that go for a number of hours (golf, cycling etc) and it takes a long time to FFWD from the start of the recording if you simply want to watch the last hour or so.

Ross.
