Huh?? Sky sold their outside broadcast business and trucks to NEP because they couldn't afford them let alone buy new. Upgrade was going to cost NZ$50M. Sky made it a condition of sale that the trucks be updated by a certain date, which I've forgotten, but I think was 2025.

Yeah, sky did nothing to upgrade while they had it. They don't care about offering quality output.

Apsattv:

Any 4k channel could be made available not just to the new decoders but to SKYGO and the  Skysports Now service. I think they will build the channel based on a mix of 4k sports content that they have access too to start with.

"Skysport UHD 1" and "Sky Sport UHD Popup"

The test channel is still playing out F1

Probably a point to the discussion, with a photo of what looks to be 4k content, given the 'Sky UHD' icon in the top right hand side of the picture?

Without 100 fps and HDR I would not pay an additional peso.

100FPS? Which services do you subscribe to offering that?

I for one, don't believe that constitutes a significant picture improvement over 1080P.

How was that consumed? Presumbly not via Satelitte? IE how was this picture obtained?

Do you mean 4k content in general is no better than 1080p to you? Because I don't think its fair to judge it off a screen shot.

Yes, but we dont get 1080p. We get 1080i because the 1980s called and wants their specifications back.

Of course it's fair. It was what was posted as an example.

Yes, I can see the difference usually.

You can tell a lot more out of a single compressed image than most then, impressive.

That image isnt a great advert for the quality of their 4K. However; I will admit it looks like it is a grab from a moving camera which will have worsened the capture. Basically hard to pass total judgement off that.

More likely Sky accountants called and wanted their money back.
