Brents:

Does your dish have an Dual throat or quad (dual throat as well) lnb like any of these? it needs to have either. If its a single throat lnb, it cant look at the other satellite. Also, do you have and amp or muti-switch in your system? This will stop the decoder from sending 13 volts to the lnb to switch throats as a multi-swich feed 18 volts to the dish.

Dual or quad, I have no idea. There is one cable coming off it, thats all I can see.

There is a device in the roof somewhere that that cable goes to, and the Freeview aerial cable as well, then cables go from there to the 2 TV/Sky locations. One of those locations (dining room) just one cable comes out the wall, then a splitter of some sort sends Sky down one cable and Freeview down the other. I'm not sure how it works in the lounge.

Sounds like there is no way Sky's test should have returned a successful result.

Freeview's help page https://freeviewnz.tv/newsatellite/ claims that if one gets Freeview only from dish then you will most likely NOT have to adjust it. Implies that there will be a new sat at 160E.

@kiwifidget - that is a multswitch. To receive a signal from another satellite, there would need to be a another cable to connected to either the red or yellow inputs on the left. Without that, you will never see the signal from the second satellite.

@Mavarick can you please share your tuner settings?

I can't get anything from my vu zero, also running openvix.

I'm hoping it's not the LNB/dish, as the LNB was only replaced a few months ago. Being at the gable end of a two story house I can't see the LNB type.

I just did a automatic scan of that Satellite and it came up, now that signal is locked as I dont have a valid Sky card

what settings would you like?

If it's a Sky installed LNB you would have to set the 22 kHz tone in order to switch to 156E.

An authorised Sky installer did the install, however I don't know what make/model LNB was used. I contacted them directly as I don't have Sky.

I'm pretty sure I tried changing the tone, but I'll give it another go.

@rscole86

Threshold - 18000  Set artificially high to stop it trying to switch based on transponder frequency. NZ doesn't use dual LOF LNBs for switching between frequency bands.

Increased voltage - no

Tone mode - on

Rest looks OK.

Thanks @Spyware and @RunningMan, I can see the Sky Test channel entry now, though an automatic scan did not pick up anything else at all.

I know I had the tone on earlier, but possibly missed it as I was using the signal finder and predefined frequencies. It was leaning towards a fault as even my digital satellite finder didn't give me anything either, its possible it only used frequencies outside of the NZL beam.

Openvix.. I don't think the transponders are published yet on satellites.xml for 156, so automatically scan won't work

You need to install the Blind scan plugin.. Then you will be able to blind scan and find channels on 156

You shouldn't need diseqc mode on

DiSEqC mode will be very specific to each installation, so never copy another person's settings for this. In practical terms you should already know what it is if you need to use it. It's a protocol for controlling more complex satellite switching system for multiple LNBs, and in NZ would be rarely seen outside of multi dish commercial or high end enthusiast set-ups.

As for the blind scan plugin, this only works on specific devices - not all tuners support blind scan.
