im not sure these are still true but most of the problems with the white box are to do with recording and watching recordings mainly with live sport. you couldnt set the time eg you recorded a rugby game and you dont want to watch all the build up. with the black box you could enter say 60 minutes and it would start 60 minutes in , with the white box you had to fast forward 60 minutes. if you watched a recording on the white box and say watched only half the match, stopped it and came back to it, 80%of the time it would start at the beginning and you would have to fast forward and if it is 3-4 hours that is really annoying.

Interesting. I use episode record, and FFWD through. At 30x it takes but a couple of minutes and occasionally if I see someone I want to hear being interviewed I stop and listen then carry on.

Stan has a cool feature where it allows you to skip right to the start of the game and skip half time.

MySky  Select your recording, right arrow to change the setting to User Defined, enter the numerical, say 60, then enter. (writing this from memory as not near it)

Its a boon

a location that has no FM radio reception. The decoder is tuned to RNZ all day.

Interesting. As a radio buff, where is this?

422 - concert prog
421 - National prog

Music channels you pay for. I think it's about $4.30 a month. Cost has never changed all the time we've had them. There about a dozen different genre.

I believe that it was a geographical question.

Ah!
The location is coastal North Canterbury (surrounded by hills)
Just checked and we pay $3.16 + gst a month for music. Considering the choices and advertising on a lot of the radio stations apart from RNZ, we feel we get our monies worth from it especially as we are both in our 70's agewise and home most of the time.

As opposed to the new system being designed by a baboon.

Sorry yes, I know where to find the channels already - I meant your geographical location πŸ™‚ National Radio on 675kHz doesn't reach there?

Other options for RNZ and Concert, just use an old Android or apple or tablet and stream via wifi from the app.

Go on alixpress or any other china junk online store..buy a $20 Freetoair satelite box and splitter. RNZ and Concert are FTA on Freeview, no need to pay any fees, at the same time purchase an fm band transmitter so you have your own low power "local" feed on a frequency of your choice

Sky black box gives me everything I need radio-wise and I was commenting on the advantage of retaining it as long as possible. This thread is all about sky wanting everyone to move away from the device.
I shall exit the conversation now...........

We switched to the White Box after having MySky box from its start. Paid the forever fee and have been happy with it. Had to send the Black Box back but the new, white one, proved so problematic I demanded my MySky box back. Never got my $200 back for the White one!

Received a Kaon - smaller and bigger HD and pleased as punch to have it back. During day time we'd listen to Nat Prog, 421, which we couldn't get on the white box.

All running fine until the satellite change over which had so many outages overnight. Anything being recorded overnight didn't happen. Sometimes there was nothing until mid morning.

Getting worried as I'm a LFC football supporter and evening games (UK time) started being showed 08.00 NZ time was a worry but viola, Sky got the satellite didn't cause fury for the EPL as last Wednesdays games were all up and running (and todays game LFC v Everton).

I'm a bleary-eyed 76 y/o (well not really as eyesight v good) and both my wife and I think the picture from the new satellite is much better.

Are we imagining it or is it a fact. I never use any of Sky's stuff apart from Sport. Other TV series and movies are downloaded and transferred to a Samsung SSD and plugged into our 65"Sony.

All good again, I hope!

Satellite switch over to Koreasat6 isn't until the week of 14 April. Sky will have sent you an email today.

When we're due to switch
The work to complete this will take place during the early hours of a morning, in the week commencing 14 April (the actual day will depend on weather and other factors).

All channels broadcast by Sky's satellite will be off-air at the same time for up to an hour while this happens.

What you need to do
Please keep your new Sky Box plugged in and powered on at the wall (when in that state, it's OK for the box to be in standby mode), and connected to the internet as normal, so that everything goes smoothly for you.

Remember to do the same for all other Sky Boxes in your home, and if you can, check in with and help family and friends too.

Find out what to do if you have a Sky Box at a different location to your home.

What you should expect
If you’re watching TV when switchover happens, your service will automatically cut over to broadband, so you’ll be able to continue watching.

Once the new satellite is up and running, you’ll be prompted on screen to restart your box to connect to it.  Make sure you do this as soon as possible because your recordings will stop until your box recognises the new satellite.  It’ll also mean future scheduled recordings go ahead.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Hi

i may or may not have a MySkyHDI black “pace” box to give away.

we quit Sky 3 weeks ago and even though they said we need to return equipment (by sending us a return bag), that hasn’t transpired.

after 3 weeks I decided to email them and the response came back as “if we send you an email to print out a pre paid return label”, then send it back, otherwise if you don’t get the email then dispose it yourself in EWaste or otherwise as it’s out dated (words to that effect).

location Christchurch, so if your keen and want to wait say another couple weeks (just in case someone somewhere decides they need to send me an email to print off then organise “packaging”), I’m happy to give away the box and remote (minus the smart card and batteries).

Yeah, I wouldn't give it away. They will charge you.

Try this. I just returned 4 decoders in a big cardboard shipping box, and whacked this courier label on it (from the URL below), emailed the courier to pick it up from my front door, and emailed sky the tracking number.

Got a response a few days later confirming they had received the gear - all good!
