Does look nice and clear on the pod, though don't know if I can tell how much better it is. The amount of screen taken up by the score info is slightly annoying.

Legacy broadcasters have to cater for people on televisions that have non defeatable overscan when they lay those things out. I really dont get why things like that cant be overlayed by the playback device and have it customisable. I mean it is their app that is playing it so they can put what they like on the screen at any time.

Next time i see the WBBL Cricket feed from Australia, ill take note and post some data from it.

But from memory the other day the broadcast had 2 feeds on it, one was the world feed in standard HD, the other was the UHD feed. The UHD feed was using Hevc @ 28mbits. I didnt take any notice as to if the graphics were any different, i doubt they would take any notice of 4x3 safe zones these days.

Just flicked it on. My preamp still shows 1080p60 on the HD channel.

it was on Auto.

i go into the Pod menu and force it to 4K and of course I start getting 4K…….. but am I getti g 4K cos I’ve forced the pod to do an upscale?

What am I missing to get native 4K on the 4K channel?

Watching the ashes on the sky pod. Noticeably better picture quality! Can’t wait for premier league to finally make it here in 4k.

From the SKY website:

Sky Pod viewers: why is Channel 51 still the HD version of Sky Sport 1, and where is the new 4K UHD channel?

Right now, the best way to access Sky’s coverage of the Ashes series in 4K UHD is by clicking on the ‘4K UHD Ashes First Test’ tile on your Sky Pod Home page.

We’ve made the Sky Sport1 4K UHD channel available, but as we’re still finetuning the experience, we’ve placed it towards the end of our channel lineup and recommend you use the Home page to get to sport in 4K UHD.

You can still watch Sky Sport 1 in HD in its usual spot at Channel 51.

Sky Sport Now subscriber watching on SSN app Bravia 7 tv.

Definitely big difference between SS1 v SS1UHD channel, can notice better colour accuracy and less ghosting effects. I have noticed UHD channel is about 10 seconds behind standard HD channel. No buffering on wifi6 to, router is only about 5 metres from tv.

Tried to load up SSN on browser on PC to check it out didn't really notice big difference between 2 channels. Monitor is 4k.

Can anyone log the url via the sky pod. I'm  Interested in the format/codec bitrate playpath etc. Or any other device traffic (to aid in pihole blocking)

How do you force the pod to 4k and change it from auto? Need to check what I'm on.

How does the cricket ball look in fast movement?

Still a blurly mess? or does it actual look like a ball?

ball motion still isn’t great and shots with fast motion like side on when the bowler runs in with the crowd in the background look quite compressed and pixelated. Most of the other camera angles look very sharp though. All in all, I think it looks pretty great.

Looks like the F1 starting this afternoon is being broadcast in 4K. Not sure I’ve seen that mentioned anywhere in the sky announcements?

F1 has simply been shifted to Sky Sport 1 as Ashes isn't on. Sky will not have a 4K feed of F1.
