spacedog: Look....plain and simple.

If SkySport 1 & 2 are HD channels and i'm getting SD content on it....it's misleading/deceptive/fraudulent conveyance..

Read the fine print?

I'm disappointed much of the French Open has not been in high definition. The high definition feeds we have received look quite amazing.

I wasn't suggesting that Sky hasn't covered themselves legally by reading the fine print. The fact is, it's deceptive and misleading to talk about Sky Sport 1 & 2 being in HD when they are often feeding SD content.

And to be honest....I didn't get any 'fine print' to read when I called and asked for the HD content package.

Just Like TV1 HD,2 HD and TV3 HD... 95% of their shows are just upscaled SD, TVNZ,Mediaworks and SkyTV have chosen to overlay their HD channels rather than what the rest of the world has done where they are on seperate channel numbers to the SD version. So I think you should just except this is how we do it here. I do not believe any deception is happening.

I think that just "accepting" it as "OK" is a pretty poor way to look at it. As customers we should expect and demand more....if we don't then we will never get anything of a higher quality.

Upscaled SD is not true HD.

I'm not even sure what is the point of having HD if you aren't getting HD content. Frankly, I'm surprised anyone could make the argument that broadcasting upscaled SD and calling the channels HD is NOT deceptive/misleading.

I was visiting friends in the USA last year and *everything* is in full HD. That's fine, I know we are not in the USA, but we get 3-4 channels for HD and it's not even in full HD?

Am I really the only person who thinks there is something seriously wrong with this picture?

Have you read my original post?  They display the (HD) logo on programs that are not HD.

Define everything.

You will find that primetime on the big 5 networks is in HD, but a lot of non-primetime material isn't.

Also older re-runs aren't.

Next up you have a lot of cable channels that aren't even in widescreen, never mind HD.

The BBC's angle is their HD channel currently only runs HD material, nothing is upscaled, but in a lot of markets that behaviour is rare.
