What are the * conditions on that rewind feature?

I can foresee issues around that where peoples daily subscription runs out etc.

*You can search back through the electronic programme guide up to 24 hours. If the programme you want to watch started within the previous 24-hours, you should be able to use Playback to watch it. Playback feature available on PC/Mac versions only. Playback feature not currently available on tablet or mobile.

Yeah, that's the channel also that was causing trouble.

Ive just signed up. I recall there was a sample that I can try but Googling just gives me top level generic results. I read the FAQ.

I want to test airplay from an iPad. My expectation is continual 720p, I don't want buffering or the odd missed frame.

My wifi is 4 metres line of sight from AC iPad Air to AC router, fed by 100/20 fibre. To ATV4 if that makes any difference.

I assume the live pause or windback is still only on PC/Mac?

I assume iPad airplay will be better than Mac airplay?

TIA. I wish this was SVOD, I'm, over watching F1 from midnight to 2am then getting up early! (When I had Sky)

When I used it for the Black Caps' Australian tour I found it to be pretty solid. I'd get it running on my old iPad, AirPlay it to the TV and had faultless picture of at least 720p 98% of the time. I'm not sure about the live pause working on iPad. I was very happy with it as an alternative solution to a Sky sub. You can just turn it on and off as needed - note the monthly sub auto renews so you just need to remember to cancel it manually once you're done.

The quality is ok (not hd as broadcast) but close to it and what I like is you can set the bitrate. Typically if there is an issue with audio syncing with video then the issue is on Sky's side as opposed to the Neulion platform (Sky still havn't ironed out the kinks with the video feeds) and there is often up to a 1 - 2 minute delay between real time and what Fanpass is showing.

However, Fanpass now is simply sky sports 1 - 4 so if something is on a pop up channel you miss out. The packages for F1, NRL and Super Rugby last year were more what a fan would typically want, which would Sky has done away with.

They also seem to have removed the quality options from memory.  Last time I used it I couldn't see a way to force best 720p etc.

Nice idea, priced too high for what I want.

Dropping the package options dropped the appeal.

For me, the pause/rewind is huge. If not using a PC/Mac. In this part of the world, watching live is not an option often. If I could watch live on iPad airplay, and it records to the iPad, or I can have an OD of what was in the timeslot I paid FanPass for, that would be huge. Right issues maybe, although you can do that on a PC/Mac. Also, Fanpass was I assume a revenue recovery option, not meant to be an encouragement to get users off Sky. With the bite starting now for SVOD, they can revisit Fanpass perhaps, and make that a full product. PopUps, record, incentivise a 3 or 6 or 12 month Fanpass subscription. Many ways to skin a cat

I trialled Fanpass over the RWC last year and the streams were fantastic in 720HD and no buffering for a full match on Chromecast. I have not purchased it since then but will reconsider if they do the following

  1. Have an option for FULL HD 1080 playback
  2. Enable the Pop Up Channels as well, as its only Sky Sport 1-4
