I bought igloo because I wanted a planner function so I could make some tv schedules for myself... and could not afford the other boxes at the time. Its nice to have a limited pause to.

I have the channel pack but only because I became addicted to the veronica mars reruns on Vibe =)

Mom and Dad just picked one of these up. They had bought a cheap dishTV STB for $84. Plugged it in and it made a weird screeching noise when turned off (bad caps maybe) they were going to just replace it, but it was so ugly and cumbersome to use, they decided to get the Igloo box. Strange things like it can record to usb, but then you essentially have to navigate a unix filesystem to find the usb stick and then you click on a meaningless filename to reveal what you have recorded. The remote was also awful.

They swapped it for the igloo and it is a much better proposition for what they need. The remote is clear and well laid out. The option is there for extra channels if they want them, live pause is ok. It is for a second, older TV in the bedroom and they have a PVR downstairs for recording Freeview. Setup is a breeze and the manual is easy to follow and simple. It just works well compared to a cheap freeview STB. It also feels much better made. I would recommend it over a cheap STB at this point even if you do not intend to use the extra Sky channels. The included Sky channels suck BTW. Would not recommend it for the Sky portion. It is a pity nobody has packaged a freeview STB this well for the digital switchover. the cheap ones seem crap compared to igloo.

Try Vultr using this link and get us both some credit:

The hills proper freeview STB are ok in terms of interface and ease of use. But not the best reliability wise, as mine kept crashing and rebooting.
