SumnerBoy: Hmmm - wonder if they would go for;

- MySky+ PVR
- Sky basic
- Sports ONLY + HD Ticket

I.e. drop movies and replace with HD...as all I really want is HD sports, that is all I will use Sky for.

Anyone tried this?

ring and ask... they answer the phone pretty quickly.

Yeah nah. They can't tweak the deal by the sounds of it. Still, tempting...works out to $15 a week for HD sports and movies...

Yeah, even with the HD ticket it is half price.  Would usually be over $120.

Remember that you don't have to pick the movie package, you could have Soho or something else, but the movies and sport does give you the best bang for your buck.

You're only locked in for 6 months too... but you can use the service at that price for 12 months

I just didn't look at it like that.... if I did I would be annoyed.  I looked at the total package for $58.

Yep - fair enough - but I recently dumped Sky (6 months ago) as I was sick of paying $80 a month and only watching sports. So at $60 it is definitely better, but not as cheap as I would like...

Fair point, I probably wouldn't do it if I didn't watch the movie channels and doco channels.

On a side note I recently had Vodafone TV which is cheaper than Sky generally.  I was getting the box for free and the HD ticket for free but the overall cost was still more than this deal.

Get multiroom then, you don't pay for the HD ticket ;-)

As already mentioned, if you want Sky and you're in a UFB Area, then getting UFB with Vodafone and adding Vodafone TV is the way to go.

UFB generally speaking = $100 - 110 per month. If you went with 100mbps Unlimited plan with Vodafone and Added Vodafone TV with Sky Basic + Sport it's around $160 per month. Sky alone is $80 - 90 per month with Sport. Vodafone are winning as they include the HD Ticket and their My Sky Decoder equivilent as part of the package.

I think you might have rounded your figures down ;-)

That's not as cheap as the $58 I'm paying for mysky+, basic, sky movies, sky sport, and HD ticket.  Granted it's only for 12 months but I'll worry about that later.

Can you find two hours of entertainment a week for $15 that is near as good?

We called up and said we were considering cancelling Sky as our costs were over $100 a month. They offered us a $40 a month discount for 3 months, which is better than nothing. Can't recall the exact deal.

Polite and respectful but outlining the case seems to be the order of the day!
