joshhill96: If you require Power line Adapters, we have them on a special sale here throughout November : http://www.dishtv.co.nz/Accessories/142-Network-Over-Power-AdapterPair/flypage_web2_lite.tpl.htm

Not a bad price.  Can you buy additional ones to add to the network??

Yep, you sure can, we provide software to help pair them which is included in the box :-)

A review of the new Sky OnDemand service appeared on Stuff yesterday, in case you didn't see it.

I personally find the current mysky very basic and limited in terms of organising and filing, apart from archive with a lock code there is now way protecting stuff you don't want to delete. i don't expect this to change with these new boxes though, by the sounds of it its really just sky using home wifi with soho content, am i wrong in saying that.

Cant remember if I read it or heard it, but this rollout is going to take 18 months.
Now I can hold out for 15 minutes for an extra marshmallow (http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/money/72333292/budget-buster-do-you-have-more-willpower-than-a-four-year-old) , but that seems like a really long time.

I have the black MySky HDi box, and I figure that I'm going to get the update sooner or later, and as I can't connect to my router via ethernet (distance and a wall in between), I go to skytv.co.nz and follow some links to the On Demand service which take me to skyondemand.co.nz. Right there on the home page for that site it says:

CONNECTION DEVICES FOR MY SKY HDi/+ CUSTOMERS
We've made it easy for SKY customers with the Basic package or more, to connect to SKY On Demand.
Use our connection wizard to help choose the connection device that's right for you.
CHOOSE CONNECTION >

I answer a few Yes/No questions until I get to this option:

SKY LINK
We can lend you a SKY LINK connector which allows your MY SKY box to connect to your home WiFi. Remember, you must have access to WiFi to be able to use a SKY LINK connector.
$17.25 (One off lending fee. Includes Delivery)
ORDER NOW

OK, $17 is nothing. I don't mind paying that now to be prepared to take advantage of the new features as soon as they're available. So I click on ORDER NOW and:

To complete your order call us on 0800 SKY BOX (0800 759 269)

So I call Sky and ask to order the LINK connector but am told the only way you can get one is to order online. I tell Sky that online told me to make a phone call, and now the people on the phone are telling me to order online - infinite loop. I get put on hold and after a while the CSR comes back and says the supervisor says people can't order the connector until they have received the update.

Huh? Why not? Because you can't use it until you have the update. But I'm an ex-boy scout who likes to be prepared. No, sorry. You can't order one until you get the update. Argh! I dispute Sky's claims that (1) they've "made it easy" and (2) I can "ORDER NOW". If they have the LINK, why can't I have one now? If they don't have the LINK, why not just say on the website that you can order it once you have the update?

I went through the same online process as you.  Another boy scout.  One day it said Call.  Another day it let me order online.  Just periodically try the online process.  They have them and they are sending them.  Unless I found a loophole that they since closed....  And if so, sorry.

Whoops, the software is to encrypt as the adapters have passwords, buttons are provided to pair.

I would have lied and said the update came through last night and I need the Sky Link to watch on demand.

just rang them up and ordered mine over the phone and should be in the mail tomorrow. I asked when they are doing the updates and was told from today onwards so maybe that's why I was allowed to order it because it could happen at any time now, lets just hope they can cope with demand.
