I wouldn't care except my 15 month old son loves that channel.... he loves sitting on daddy's knee and watching.  I have an iPad but that won't be the same.

I'm sure the airplay fix won't be far away.  I'm more disappointed with TVNZOD.  They have just moved kidzone off sky to TVNZOD but there is no easy way for me to play it on my TV because they don't have an app for Apple TV and they don't allow airplay.

Apple TV 4 app is available from today... and it works really well.

No love for Apple TV 3?  Bet there's a lot more of them out there rather than ATV4..

O for orsome. What was said the other day implied that.

TVNZ. Ratings are what they live for. Cutting a segment of the viewship isn't a great look. Who cares what means we have to watch, they want us to watch??

There are no "Apps" for the older ATVs.

There are, its just an "Apple needs to want it, rather than anyone applying for it" They can and have been added in the past. But difficult

Given how TV4 is now going to be a reality TV station, you are missing nothing.

My prediction, broadcast TV will be dead in NZ within 10 years. As more people turn to Netflix and the like people will become less tolerant of the adverts and poor programming.

Already, 90% of our "tv" is Netflix, we mostly watch the news on ordinary TV though that is becoming more infotainment than News these days, so its days are numbered too.

Hillary Barry I think saw the writing on the wall with TV3/TV4/etc becoming more sh!t than show and jumped ship to extend her career for a little longer.

Shes going to TV1!

Edited for clarity

I don't think an Apple TV 3 app is likely myself.

The entire platform is different, there is no App Store. Apple has to want the app. I don't think Lightbox with their small number of subscribers (and therefore statistically an even smaller number of people who both subscribe to Lightbox & have an ATV3) would ever fall into that category.

Airplay support via ATV 3 will be a thing again very soon though.

Pretty good first showing. Although the Siri button will dump you out of show playback. I've already let Lightbox know via Twitter, and they'll forward that on to their code monkeys (along with my request for Siri support, if it requires additional dev input over and above what the OS provides).

Siri for Apple TV isn't supported in New Zealand at the moment. And I would be surprised if we can do anything about the button behaviour button as it is likely to be controlled at device level, so may be challenging to suppress at app level.

It isn't officially supported, but it still works (we use it all the time). All you have to do is set your region to a supported one. But I understand your stance on this. Developer resources are limited, so you need to draw a line in the sand somewhere.

But it certainly shouldn't be stopping playback, and taking the user back to the previous screen when it is pressed. All other apps that have Siri integration do not dump you out of playback when the button is pressed. This seems like a bug in the Lightbox app to me, and it is one that will probably frustrate your users.

Mods can we keep this thread on topic (Apple TV 2 & 3 support) there is already an active Apple TV4 light box thread, these recent comments should be there. It's confusing like this.

Is anyone with an earlier Apple TV able to comment if Airplay is working again?

When I played with one a little while back it was not, but you could use the awful Airplay mirroring.

PhantomNVD: AirPlay mirror works, but without 'mirror' on AirPlay only does sound :(

Ah that's disappointing.

Given they have ATV4 support up and running this can only be a matter of minutes away of being fixed. Given the codecs/DRM are the same between the two (ie Fairplay etc).

Any comment @Lightbox/@PaulfromLightbox?

When I asked here recently the reply read between the lines that it's very soon and presto ATV4 was here days later.
I feel it's close.

We aren’t there yet I’m afraid. What I can tell you is that the team are doing everything in their power to get it out the door as quickly as possible.

The minute we have firm dates we’ll let you know.

We do appreciate your patience on this one - very aware it’s frustrating from a user perspective but with a bit of luck we won’t be too far away

Regards

Paul
