We are aware of this and we have the company that makes our apps look into this.
Once they have a fix they will upload it.
morphyoss: I logged a ticket with Neon support and got the following reply:

No time frame but hopefully will be resolved soon.
Accedo. They are global, but they do have an Auckland office.

They're not lying, it's definitely 'unrivalled'
I have also lodged a ticket and received this answer today. It seems like something might actually happen.
lawilson97: Victory, everyone!
that reads to me like they are trying to blame google for poor performance rather than their crappy app.
Sky seem to be on a roll these days when it comes to handling things as poorly as can be.
Now, can we get Neon to remove the shitty intro sequence/sound effect when you open the app?
leolei: I tried below steps and after that the Neon AndroidTV app runs pretty smoothly.
Settings -> Apps -> See all apps-> scroll to bottom, click Show system apps -> Android System WebView -> Clear data

It'll help for a bit but slows down again pretty quickly.
+1
The performance issue definitely gets worse over time, so I'm just force quitting the Neon app every time before I want to watch something. PITA and still not perfect, but at least it's usable.
Force quitting/clearing cache (or clearing data) seems to drop the button delays from 7+ seconds down to 2-5 seconds, depending on the action - e.g. scrubbing through a show will have a long delay vs. scrolling through the main screen "only" being 2 seconds per click. One thing I noticed is that Netflix and other apps only cache a few 100KB at the very most, compared to Neon which caches 10MB+... I wonder whether this is part of the issue. Caching information should make things quicker, but perhaps not in this case. If I had to guess, it would be caching the thumbnails of each piece of content.
