A couple of good suggestions here, thanks guys. I am working on the first one and I can undertake, as topic instigator, to approach Sky on this matter and see what the official response might be.
I understand Sky monitor these forums but probably unofficially, so where Sky employees do respond they are not likely to be identified as such. Hence some of the commitments expressed or implied may not carry much weight. I'll see how I get on.
