DS9:
ockel: Offtopic but according to the World Avertising Research Center:

"Currently, HD channels make up just 3% of the European market. "

Given TV1/2/3 plus SS1/2 and SM1/Greats that makes 7 channels of HD.  Something like 100 channels in NZ so I'm guessing that for HD content we're batting above the average.
Of course if one debates about the amount of HD content on TV1/2/3 then we'd be back to about Euro average.

It is like saying that: In the UK there is 1HD channel per 1.2m people where here it is 1HD per 615000. Does this mean we are doing better for HD channels?

That would make Australia 1HD channel per 1.18m people including the new channels starting 1 Nov??

The point I was trying to make is that it does not matter how many HD channels there are, it is just are we happy with what we have got, or do we want more at a cost?

I aim to misbehave.

I want 500 HD channels and 50 3D channels including Formula 1 in 3D with 4K resolution and 22.4 surround sound for $60/month.

Now get your arse off that pile of cash and start building the network, Sky!

Put together a business plan with probable household uptake (as measured by surveys) with full costings and submit it to Sky.  Not only would they take you seriously but they might even offer you a job,

Or we could put together a petition!  Cos we all know from the success of petitioning for the Sci-Fi channel (2122 signatures) that it'll be really really effective.  If those 2122 people paid for the satellite uplink alone if they wanted to subscribe to the channel it'd probably be $20/mth before any content costs.

Of course I want more HD channels.... Sky haven't increased their offering since launch, which is poor IMO. Foxtel have increased at least twice.

Counting Freeview channels on Sky is a cop out really. There are only 4 HD channels on Sky right now really (soon to be 5, albeit for a couple of weeks only)

How does everyone think Sky's allocation of DVB-T bandwidth for after analog switch off/digital switch over will affect this issue?
