The BSkyB service for the UK might be a good indication of what we could see here.......

The BskyB system is easy to use but they expect you to pay more for it on top of your existing subscription.  I was paying 55 pounds a month for all channels including HD, but because I didn't have multiroom or broadband with Sky I would have had to pay an additional 15 pounds per month for the live channels, of which I had to have a sky subcription to those channels in the first place....  The only thing that was useful was that you could get the online only stuff for cheaper than the satellite... but it was not value for money.

thanks i am aware of the UK sky player service
that is roughly 25 - 30 NZD

Hopefully we can get some decent price there
But seriously I cant see it will be anywhere cheaper than the current price
Since Skytv probably dont want people to ditch their current subscription, and just use isky instead...

...I just want to watch NatGeo, Discovery and History channel...
isky~~~ bring me some hope please

Do you think there is any chance of them allowing people to subscribe to this service without subscribing to the satellite service. Might be a good way of offering a cheaper package...

No I don't think so, this service is designed to complement Sky's offering not replace it

Do you think the partners will offer free access as standard across all plans or have it as an add-on or only the top plan?

The NZHerald published a story today about iSky, half of it based on a conversation I had with the journalist.

i expect the platform will be flash based - like tvnz ondemmand and tv3.
We arent really a big enough market to warrant spending ruperts money on developers for windows media centre. PC / flash, xbox and ps2 will probably be it, and i see this as a precursor to ondemmand via the mysky settop box at a later date.

I hope they offer prebuffering like tvnz does. Tv3 is almost impossible to watch online with their 5 second max buffer with slingshot. It just doesnt work because it streams as you play, where as tvnz will download a whole flv video file to the flash player (per video block) for you to watch when its finished downloading.

I believe that they could easily though.  They are using the similar delivery platform as the UK sysyem, Kontiki, and BskyB in the UK already has a sky player WMC7 plugin running.  I don't see them not adopting the same system.

Just got an email from them asking me to register for iSky.  Click on the link which has a button to create a Sky ID and activate the account.  This took me to the SkyID sign-on pages I already have an activated ID, so I logged in as per normal.  No mention on iSky on subsequent pages so no idea if I'm now registered or not.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?
