I only watch rugby, cricket and netball.

I can get cricket on Spark Sport or Kayo, Rugby on Stan ($20/month) but not netball.

If Sky Sport Now would work well I'd be happy with SSN and Spark Sport....will look at Vodafone TV now....

Just tried to watch the Crusaders vs Hurricanes game today from my Nuc hooked to the TV.

It kept launching and playing a bit of the Chiefs vs Highlanders game about 30 minutes in, playing for a minute and then just stalling on a frame.

Go out and back in and it does exactly the same again from the exact same point. Tried another browser and even another PC and every time it was the same - Ended up watching a dodgy stream and finally it came right at half time (Id tried on the laptop every few minutes during the game).

Even then at the end of the game I dragged back to the start and it work but strangely the coverage started at 4pm but it refused to go back before 4:20pm.

I've used it twice in the last 10 days and both times its been problematic but today really pissed me off.

It played fine on my ipad but my daughter and her boyfriend came round to watch with us and we're not going to sit round an ipad - No I don't have chromecast or Apple TV because I find having an actual PC hooked fulltime to the TV far more versatile.

I'm going to be complaining and want at least half my months bill back - I pay $40 to watch 4 crusaders games a month and I missed the first half of todays one and cut about 15 minutes out of last weeks one.

I also hate the way that you can only join live which means often seeing the score (or even result) if you aren't careful joining late - Fine if coverage has finished it'll play from the start but not when joining while its still on air.

The own Rugbypass so why is the tech different - Rugbypass gives you the choice of joining live or from the beginning.

I'm also intrigued to hear people reporting the quality of SkyGO is better than SSN?? Why the hell would that be when we pay for SSN where SkyGo is an added value addon for a Sky Subscription.

FWIW End of last year I was skeptical of SSN and purchasing a full year in advance but 3 months in and I am very happy with it. Watched the same game as you last night and it was 100% perfect. I actually think the PQ has improved in the time I have had it (Particularly super rugby).

Just purchased a ATV4K, interested to see how it goes!

If they could allow for watching live games from the start it would make this a complete service.

If anyone has a promo code for SSN I'd be keen to use it!

Yeah, it played fine on my iPad the whole time. I get the distinct impression all of their work is on mobile devices and the web version is seen as the poor cousin and neglected.

I know it wasn’t my end. It’s a very clean and up to date i5 nuc with 8gb of ram connected via gigabit Ethernet to 100/100 fibre. I also tried on an i7 laptop with 16gb and behave identically. I was initially putting it down to browser cache as it was like it was stuck on the same chunk of video stream but once I’d tried multiple browsers and even devices that ruled that out. My isp is a specialist in corporate connections and does a lot of government departments and I always have very reliable good bandwidth and no signs of any transparent proxy etc.

It just seemed to be an issue with their end. The fact it suddenly kicked in working at half time I think either they fixed the issue or maybe the segment splits at that point and that made it start a new stream of some sort but the fact I could then go back in the timeline to the beginning of the game rules that out.

I had exactly the same issue on my laptop using Firefox. It was very frustrating.

Good to hear cshwone - Well not good but I suspect that Sky were/are having issues with SSN. It would be nice to get some acknowledgement as otherwise there is zero confidence that its going to be resolved and I've found the silence from them a little deafening. The support email for SSN replied with a generic "Try other browsers" and then nothing and Sky responded with a "We're sorry, let us know if it happens again".

I've gone back to the Sky response via Facebook messenger and hes come back asking for more information so we'll see if that goes anywhere.

I can live with the occasional glitch with a response to apologise and acknowledge the issue and some sort of information to demonstrate they are on top of it. Next weekend I have a friend coming round to my place to watch the game with his family for fish and chips as a regular catchup - He's been a loyal Sky customer for more than 20 years paying for multiple decoders and a MySky etc so we're going to be pretty pissed off if we have to pack up and go round to his house after eating to watch it on his MySky.

Just a small update from me - whilst I'm really happy with Sky Sport throught the Vodafone TV, I've switched back to SkySport Now.

The reason was simple - being able to watch on which ever screen I want, without having to pay another $25 per screen.  (Lounge, spare room or office is usually where I watch).

I haven't had any problems (AppleTV / Firefox on Windows) so far, everything has streamed as it should with no issues.

Got myself an Apple TV 4th gen second hand for $100 the other week and I have to say that quality of Sky sport now seems a lot smoother than it does playing from a pc in browser. Much smoother. It’s also great being able to use a remote.I’ve only watched one game of rugby on it but it was %100 perfect.

Anyone using SSN on apple tv? The app is supposed to have swipe up for channel select and it used to work but lately it wont do anything when swiping up. Is this an app issue? Anyone else find the same?

TIA

FWIW the latest TVos update has fixed this issue for me. It was the worst having to go back to the guide then select another channel. Now it works as it should, swipe up, across to chan then select.

Ive had terrible buffering the last 2 nights BUT only on the WTC Cricket Final. Rugby, NRL, V8 Supercars and US Open golf were all perfect.

Watched the first 2 hours of the test on SSN on my ipad in bed last night. No buffering and no stalls. Interesting as my ATV is hardwired yet its buffers a lot
