jjnz1: I am having lots of buffering issues tonight when trying to watch the rugby.,. Very frustrating.
Have emailed support asking for a refund. Worst $50+ purchase ever.
ISP issues?
Maybe... VF 100mbps fibre.

myopinion: On Spark adsl2+ and the rugby played with no buffering issues for me.
I forgot the rugger was on, was deep into the womens golf.
The golf quality was outstanding, exactly like Sky Sport HD on MySky.
I switched to the rugger at 69 minutes. I found the quality fine, as in sharpness. Not great, but fine. I didn't see any frame cadence, but it was like it was shot at 20 fps, maybe 18fps.
When I had Sky, sport HD was sport HD, so I doubt that the FanPass is using lesser quality out of the box (or might they be?) Or are the streams downgraded at times? Does a popular stream become downgraded for that reason at the FanPass end, as it can at the user end if the user cannot handle the topmost bitrate? On some Olympic events I see cadence. Like a dropped frame every few frames, but the golf was literally perfect compare to MySky.
Spark fibre, 100/20, ethernet to the ATV4.
Got a weekly pass so I could test out the Apple TV app. Was able to stream the rugby with only one stutter in the stream just after the 70 minute mark of the match.
Picture quality wasn't great (definitely not HD), but was watchable. Audio quality was pretty average, and sounded really tinny.
In contrast, the Olympics coverage I watched after this (golf) looked and sounded much better, and pretty damn close to HD
I have been having ongoing VDSL performance issues, but had a sync rate of 50Mbps while streaming this. So while I can't discount issues at my end, I don't think it was to blame. All our other SVOD viewing that night ran flawlessly. And there was quite a gulf in quality between the rugby and golf.
All that being said, I was happy enough with the performance that I'd definitely use it again for future big games.

Interesting, as your experience mirrors mine. Hopefully Seymour might chime in. Off course it will be great if every event was like last nights golf, but be good to hear any
technical/choice reasons for variations in streaming quality. More so to know or expectations rather than query potential fault issues
We cant pause live FanPass? Might that be coming, give that on an ATV there is storage? Can live FanPass pause on a PC?
I installed the App on my AppleTV on Friday, and bought the $5 pass to have a play and check it out, with a view to buying a one-day pass for the Rugby on Saturday night.
Watched the Olympics - Mens Shotput. At some point, the App dropped back to the selection screen, but the audio for the stream was still going. I went back into the channel (SS4) and it came back on, but obviously the other stream was still playing as the Audio from the stream was being played twice, about 2 seconds apart.
Quitting the App (or at least, going back to the ATVs home screen) stopped the audio, but as soon as I went back into the App, I got the audio again. The only way I could fix it was power-cycling the AppleTV (is there a way to force-kill an app on the ATV4?).
Picture quality was great by the way.
I didn't end up buying it for the rugby as we went to the pub, but would have had no hesitation using FanPass if we hadn't. Just have to hope that dropping back to channel selection screen was a small bug which can be fixed.
pugsy33: I think you hold one of the buttons down then swipe the app up to close it. Just like ipad/iPhone
Yep, double tap the home button then swipe the app up to terminate it, then just re-select it.
Watched some of the Olympics, the rugby and the cricket on it over the weekend. Seemed very stable and I was happy with the picture quality.

Okay, maybe a heat of the moment comment, but I wasn't happy as it was buffering every 4-5 minutes unless restarted.
Prior to Saturday night, I would still only give Fanpass a 7/10 (vs. MySky 10/10) for reliability and quality. For some reason streaming the NFL Jared Hayne games (NFL game pass - Neulion -same people behind Fanpass I believe) I would give a 9/10, it seemed to work brilliantly all the time with great quality.
Maybe Sky don't pay as much for capacity??
Hi Alex
Any word on when the FanPass Android app will support playback of content from the last 24 hours? I got a bit stuck yesterday as I paid for 24 hours access to catch up on the F1 on Monday morning, but when I tried to watch the race I realised that feature wasn't supported in the phone app! Didn't have my laptop with me so ended up finding some crazy Android app called FlashFox which let me load the desktop FanPass website complete with the Flash-based player on my phone, but it crashed a lot, didn't go fullscreen and was impossible to use the navigation bar as my fingers were far too big!!
Cheers
