SumnerBoy: Yep - fair enough - but I recently dumped Sky (6 months ago) as I was sick of paying $80 a month and only watching sports. So at $60 it is definitely better, but not as cheap as I would like...

Can you find two hours of entertainment a week for $15 that is near as good?

Nope you are right - I just rang to sign up (finally caved) but they don't open their lines till midday!!

The AB's game Saturday night in HD was enough to justify my fee now :) Breath taking stuff.

I was out of town with no TV - had to listen on the wireless - haven't done that in god knows how many years - definitely not HD but still exciting as hell!

That doesn't surprise me, I think the telemarketers don't have many staff and they work mostly at night making calls.  This is not the normal consumer line you are calling (presuming you are using the number I quoted).

Signed up. One thing to note, after 12 months you go back to the full price, which is about $128/month for MySky + Sports + Movies + HD ticket. In order to sign up with a new deal from the telemarketers you have cancel Sky and wait out a 2 month stand-down period, before you can sign up to a new deal. I had a chat to the lady about how ridiculous that is and she agreed. Typical Sky I guess. I can live without for 2 months and go through the sign up process once a year to get it for under half price but it is a bit of a PITA.

Well that was the choice for us, we could cancel over xmas as the only thing we are watching right now, is Rugby which ends November and Super Rugby starts in Feb.

Would miss Food TV over xmas though!

Or you can cancel it and get another family member to sign up ;)

btw. The contract is only for 6 months. The service is for 12 months.  So you can cancel after six months if you want with no termination fee.

You mean you can cancel if the unit is under my name, and then a week later, my wife calls up and can have it at the same address?
Surely they would have an address checker?

The contract is with the individual not the address.  However in saying that, if your family member has a different surname it would be easier.

I certainly think so.  If you don't ask you will never know what you can get ;-)
