sidefx: Yeah, I was a bit disappointed when it didn't work.  I would still like to give it a go, but am not going to sign up for a week just to try it. Especially when a week is $20.  That pricing seems a bit on the high side.

well their web chat was no use at all.. nobody answered my query and then after about 10 mins, they disconnected the chat due to inactivity - great service!

like I said in a previous post, absolutely useless and all I wanted was a ten minute test to make sure it works, flagging it ..... stick with the freebie

I just approached them via live chat. first one got no response and timed out after ten mins. second one I got to chat with "Lee" who couldn't help at all. I asked if bathurst would be covered and their response .."I don't know"..
so I said that it wasn't showing on the calendar and they said "Lee: if it is not on the schedule it will be be streamed on Fanpass "
I had to push them to get them to correct their type.. they'd mean that it would not be streamed if it's not on the calendar..

I heard about this service on the radio, then checked out the site and thought that sky had finally pulled their heads out of 1993 and figured out how to deliver singular subscription based stream events..

..I should really have known better... it's my own fault really.

sky has been training kiwis for years now on how to get decent free/cheap streaming access to the goods they should be delivering themselves.

any recent news on this?

im on a 15.8Mbps adsl2 connection which streams netflix (via getflix) to an acceptable level.
is the sky stream ok? id like it for Bathurst.. would getflix slow this connection down? should i change the DNS back to slingshots servers?

can you drop the stream resolution to stop buffering or is it fixed at 720p+ ?

just signed up and tried the streams. frame rate was a bit low on my adsl connection, but actual quality was acceptable and perfectly watchable on my 46" tv... the soccer from europe wasnt great but thats probably the euro connection.

overall id say its acceptable so far and better quality than any of the pirate streams

I signed up yesterday morning had on best quality and was ok except voice wasn't quite in sync, went to 720p and was better.

Must say its cheaper than signing up to sky for minimum 6 months when you only want to watch WC.

Yes, you can choose from i think 5 different resolutions and bitrates, but there are 8 in total.

From what i know these are the bitrates and respective qualitys, 4500kbps/720p (Best), 3000kbps/720p, 1600kbps/540p, 1200kbps/480p, 800kbps 360p and then 400kbps, 240kbps and 150kbps which i dont know what they are.

(i know this from the m3u8 - http://nlds635.cdnllnwnl.nlss.neulioncloud.com/nlds/skysportsfanpass/skysports1/as/live/skysports1_hd.m3u8 - You cannot play this m3u8 without the valid perimeters which expire after 12 hours or so.)

Is anyone having problems with Fan Pass and Chromecast when streaming live sports?  The F1 works fine for me on my Chromecast if I cast something that's already aired - ie a replay - but if I try and cast a live session I get a message on my TV to say that the feed is not available.
The Fan Pass app on my (Android) phone works fine for both live F1 and replays and it also works fine on my laptop so it's not my internet connection.
I can only assume it's a problem at Sky's end with their Chromecast server configuration or something??  Hoping someone else on here can try and tell me if they can cast Practice 2/3/Qualifying etc live to their TV.  Practice 2 is live at midnight tonight..?
I had the same issue 2 weeks ago for the Japanese Grand Prix Practice/Qualifying/Race, tried emailing Sky support but they were absolutely useless - just got a generic email about how to use Chromecast.
