Another few weeks goes by with no communication. Somehow I doubt anything will change.

I found Twitter got the best response, sometimes deathly slow, but other times quicker

The app has been updated as of 02/03/23. It's undoubtedly better, but still not great. Like going from a 1/10 to a 5/10.

When pressing pause, the play bar doesn't come up right away. When you then press it again (once the play bar has appeared), the pause button doesn't change into the play button immediately.

Rewinding/fast-forwarding still has a delay moving through the thumbnails.

Backing out of a show is still delayed, as is backing out of any menu.

There is still a 3 second delay when using the moving through content on the main page.

The loading circle doesn't spin smoothly.

And for the love of all things holy, they need to remove the landing screen sound effect.

Yeah, it’s better but still poor compared with other apps like Netflix and Prime. It does seem to get worse the longer the app’s running too. Hopefully this is just an interim fix and they’ll keep working on it.

Yep, and considering the TVNZ/Three+ apps work pretty much totally fine is an embarrassment to Neon. I force quit and clear the Neon cache every day. It's the only thing which keeps it semi-usable.

Embarrassment is right. No 4K, no HDR. You get the sense there’s not a lot of budget behind Neon and what they do have goes on content, not improving the tech.

Exactly. It's sad because they genuinely do have a great range of content, and it promptly releases. I wonder whether they use the exact same video files as what Sky plays, since they don't support 4K and/or HDR either. A while back Neon said they were working on bringing 4K to the platform... this was years ago.

My Neon free period expired, so I terminated the service and told them why. Neon replied that the app is updated they're waiting for it to roll out. I did notice it is a little bit better when I used it yesterday, but not great still.

I haven't really noticed any improvement in performance apart from the first maybe 60 sec of using it after forcing a close.

Poor form to be honest.

Seriously considering dumping Neon now. No wonder why people turn away from legal steaming services.

I've been in communication with Neon and have sent a detailed list with all performance issues I and others are still getting. He said it's been passed on so time will tell. I am cautiously optimistic considering they did the update earlier in the month that helped a decent amount.

I'm not seeing any improvement with this version, if anything it's worse. It is only barely usable if you terminate the app between eavh episode, and don't need to touch the UI while watching something. I really struggle to understand just how they have managed to stuff this up so badly. There was nothing wrong with it when we first signed up.

Maybe a little underpowered for Neon...... 😋

What is the latest app version number people are seeing?
